After 3 months of traveling through Vietnam and being warmly welcomed everywhere we stayed, this was unfortunately the first experience that truly stood out in a negative way.
The location is practical — close to the local market and beach — and the room has basic necessities. However, the vibe and energy of the place were cold and dismissive. We felt watched, unappreciated, and at times unwelcome — seemingly because we spent more time indoors, cooked our own meals, and didn’t just "sleep and leave.” That's the impression we had and it was justified by the host comments and informative messages.
From day one, we were asked to cancel our official booking and pay in cash, with the promise of a better rate. While we agreed and trusted, it clearly reduced accountability on their end. Weekly room cleaning was minimal, and we had to maintain bathroom hygiene ourselves. Keep in mind the cleaner only used a refresher and it never smelt as being properly cleaned using a bleach. We asked a couple of times for a better cleaning but sadly it remained superficial. Also, the private bathroom which was part of our room we rented was never cleaned. When we asked, we were told the following - "We clean your room and you clean your own toilet." This was the first time I have ever heard this in my life. After travelling in over 20 countries in Europe and Asia this really stands out as something we haven't expected and not mentioned on day 1.
Matter of fact, even neighbors from nearby shops told us many guests had bought their own cleaning supplies due to the lack of proper housekeeping and they were not happy either.
The communication style from the hosts was defensive and often dismissive, as though they were above criticism. We felt as if any guest who shares concerns is quickly blamed or portrayed as the problem. If you’re staying for a short stay and only need a bed, this place might serve the purpose. But if you value peace, privacy, and respectful human interaction — there are plenty of better options in beautiful Quy Nhon.
In our case, we had already been considering leaving, so we quietly decided to skip any debate and just move on — which turned out to be the right decision. Shortly after, we were generously hosted by kind locals who welcomed us for free in a clean and lovely home — a reminder of the true spirit of Vietnam, which this place sadly did not reflect in our experience.
We’re not writing this looking for a reaction, compensation, or defense. We’re simply sharing our story honestly for the benefit of future travelers. You can also ask around and check what nearby shops share about this place.
And if the host chooses to respond in the typical fashion — argumentative or blaming — that will only further validate everything shared here. I believe that things can be resolved with humanity and if you are a host of a homestay, it's definitely not a great idea to track your guests and look for ways to blame them.
Anyways... We left without conflict, without resistance — and sometimes, that’s the strongest decision of all....
Read moreI was excited to stay here, as it looks like a lovely place, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I informed the host in advance about my late arrival, which was initially confirmed as fine. However, when my bus was slightly delayed, I was told to book another room due to a staff shortage, and after that, I received no further communication ever again. This left me struggling to find last-minute accommodation late at night. Clearer policies on late arrivals would have been much...
