Overpriced Hotel in the heart of a crumbling and dilapidated Harare overlooking a park with a mountain of rubbish visible. Location not good any more and best to find accommodation in the suburbs or Borrowdale if available. Reception - very poor communication and lacklustre welcome. We were promised 2 interconnecting rooms on booking but were given 2 rooms a distance from each other. Receptionist unsympathetic and refused to assist. To get us off his back he promised to follow up but never bothered. He then tried to run an exorbitant amount on my Amex card which was rejected leaving me with a bank charge debit. Restaurant - The dining room service was appalling. At dinner, the waiter named "Again" was simply unable to take a simple order e.g. an order for spaghetti napoletana for a vegetarian was sent to the kitchen as spaghetti bolognese and had to be explained to a different waiter before they got it right. By the time it arrived much later, the rest of the party had finished eating and were ready to go. The bill was a comedy of errors being firstly overcharged. Eventually they got it right but after paying, leaving and getting to our room the waiter came charging up to our room to say that he ran a lower amount and now I had to pay the difference! Breakfast was a chaotic affair. Despite registering our details at the entrance when leaving later Shadrack rudely demanded that we now "pay the bill" when it was included in our rate. Having cleared that up we received no apology. At the table all items requested did not arrive until repeat requests were made each time. Housekeeping was lax with 1 towel being provided for 2 guests and each time having to ask for a second. Renovations in progress were somewhat noisy and large sections of the reception and hotel are cordoned off. AVOID this hotel. They need to up their game dramatically and retrain their...
Read moreWe recently booked four rooms at the Hyatt Regency and was impressed with the hotel's modern updates and beautiful amenities. However, there were a few areas for improvement that prevented our stay from being perfect.
Firstly, we experienced some issues with the staff's training on payment and rewards. As Hyatt has recently merged with Meikles, it seems that the staff are still getting up to speed on processing payments made with points. We had to correct the staff multiple times throughout our stay to avoid being charged incorrectly.
Additionally, the staff seemed unfamiliar with the rewards program, which meant we missed out on 8 complimentary drinks that we were entitled to. It would be helpful if the hotel could provide clearer guidance on how to redeem rewards during check-in or throughout the stay.
Furthermore, the shower head in our room in the West Wing was outdated and had visible mold, which was a disappointment considering the hotel's high standards.
On a brighter note, the spa was tranquil; my therapist was not on schedule, but I enjoyed the Sauna and shower ahead of treatment. Beautiful, clean treatment rooms.
Overall, we will return and recommend the Hyatt Regency for its comfortable rooms and modern amenities, but suggest that the hotel invests in staff training to iron out these issues and provide a seamless...

This hotel is located in the very heart of Zimbabwe's capital, and it's the perfect place not only to start your safari through the country but also for business meetings and events. Rooms of this hotel are quite huge, silent and furnished with all comforts. Food & beverage offer is delicious from cocktails selection to the room service menu. The restaurant on ground is so fresh and welcoming and offers a nice selection of international dishes with some interesting local options...meat quality is superlative and I must admit I've never imagined it was possible to prepare such a delicious dish with chicken livers 😋. The breakfast buffet is very hugh and offers a lot of options among savoury, sweet, and healthy alternatives. Leisure club hosts a very huge pool and a just renovated health club. The hotel concierge is available either to organise a very nice safari in the natural reserves close to Harare and also some city tours. Staff is very polite and welcoming, even if sometimes I had to prompt them for some orders I was waiting for. I hope to come back soon to see and enjoy this remarkable hotel once it will be fully renovated. Strongly...
