7th Birthday Party

My son likes rock climbing and so I thought I’d organize a rock climbing party for his 7th birthday. After checking a few places, I decided on Adrenaline Vault in Belmont, and I’m so glad I did! From the start, they were friendly and informative. I don’t know the first thing about rock climbing as my son usually goes with his dad, so I found this really helpful. They then set up an online party portal so I could add guests to our event. The guests could then watch the info & safety videos and sign the waivers before the party started. We chose the option to hire a ā€œhostā€ as the kids are quite young and he taught the kids (and parents that were belaying) what to do. He also set up a few games and challenges for the kids that were feeling confident.

Marjory of the children that attended the party had never rock climbed before. I must admit this made me a little nervous, but the staff at AV were so good and supportive that all the children had a great time! Even the kids that were ā€œscaredā€ and didn’t want to do it eventually made it half way up a wall! I received SO MANY comments from parents telling me how incredible the party was, and how amazed they were at what their kids could do! They also all said how good it was to do something different for a kids party. Everyone had an absolute blast!

The party set up was easy too. We were given a huge table in the middle to set up our cake and party food. They let us use their BBQ so we did a big sausage sizzle at the end so everyone could have lunch.

Overall it was such a great party, I’m so impressed with the supportive environment created especially for the kids and adults that weren’t feeling that confident. Its a big venue so if at any time the kids wanted to ā€œfree playā€ there was space for them, and its not like they had to ā€œleaveā€ the party and felt left out if they needed a few minutes to rest.

The feedback from other parents was overwhelmingly positive, and most importantly my son had the best day of his life! I’d definitely recommend having a chat with the guys at Adrenaline Vault Belmont if you’re looking for a different...

We had organized our son s 10 birthday party at Vault for around 18 kids ( 15 and plus kids clearly mentioned on my email). If you are going there for the first time, I would never ever recommend this place for kids party As there is no indoor space for doing the cake. The benches which were provided wasnt stable or properly maintained and its outdoor with shade . 3.Never clearly mentioned about the play area and what procedures are followed when you are in for the first time of booking via online. Insufficient staffs for kids party especially with the large number of group. Never mentioned that each kid to be accompanied by theor parents to hold the rope for the first time. 6.Person who was replying me to my email has not mentioned about this to her staff literally a communication gap. Staff forcing us to pay them the remaining balance while we are holding the ropes which is kind of disgusting and disappointing. 8.2hrs package is not worthwhile as they keep explaining so many safety rules, by the time kids wanna do the individual climbing, they will lose their interest in playing . The Person communicating must explain each and everything before she makes in booking and be upfront how it works with kids or adults coming in for the first time. One child ( aged 13) who was invited to the party had no chance to do the rock climbing as staff asked ger to hold the rope below and I had pay for her before the staff asked her to do.. I felt so odd about the behaviour of staff and i felt sad as she never got a chance to play even after paying for her.

I m totally disappointed with the above things. I wanted kids to enjoy rather than waiting for their turn.

I give two stars becoz of the staff who took care of kids in and out and explaining each and every adult or ...

UPDATE: I’ve adjusted the stars from 4 to 5... it’s still pricy but a 6 month membership would solve that issue and NOW they have couches! Also the opening times have a Wednesday 10am and Friday 10am opening time! I’ve been to 4 new gyms in the past 2 months, 2 in Melbourne and 2 in Perth, Adrenaline Vault is the best; range of climbs, proximity to south eastern suburbs, atmosphere, and the staff are super encouraging... if you climb alone that can make a difference! I was blown away by the amazing walltopia walls!!! This is definitely the premier bouldering gym in WA at the moment! The area is expansive and the ability to ā€˜top out’ and practice your mantling is worth the visit! Heaps of overhangs to try those aggressive shoes you bought. Cafe could do with ā€˜non-climbing visitor’ area something for those in between times. Like all climbing gyms it’s HOT and the air flow in the fortress zone was near non existent (granted there were heaps of people heating the place up with their amazing climbs)! I was also stunned at some of the odd routes like the dual texture mini-crimps... I spent like 1 hour on that problem alone (yet to be completed).

The only two issues:

  1. the $20 day pass, it is reasonable considering the sheer volume of climbing for all levels... however that is two visits to my regular bouldering gym and that has dusty chalk filled couches which suck you in between climbs!
  2. no early bird days for those parents amongst us to sneak a climb in. The gym opens after 3pm except for the weekends.

Final words! This is the flashiest and best gym for climbing options but priced for casual visits... not...

The place is clean! :):) doesn’t smell like feet, and the walls feel clean and new! For your first sesh it included everything (shoes, chalk) u need for some fun! Just wear your skimpiest clothes for freer movement! And byo socks! The shoes they had were fun and very grippy! The walls had heaps of variety of climbs! I found some green ones that were hard but one of the staff members, Chris, was really awesome and gave us some tips to conquer them! I love that there’s no B laying, and no harness needed!!! Just come n climb! Bring snacks/water or check out the cafe for some snacks and drinks! :):) when our fingers were shredded there was other equipment on the side to play/train on! Super fun place... u could easily hang all day w friends or make new friends!!! :):) and subconsciously build your six pack ABS!!! :) I took pics of some of the climbs I did (yellow/green) but although they change the walls like a restaurant changes their seasonal menu, there will be fun beginner/intermediate routes! :):) and ask the staff, they might point out a dyno u could try!

Amazing place. Lots of fun to come with 1 or more friends. Would not recommend coming alone as a beginner. The harness section is easier for beginners but can't do it alone. And need lots of breaks so more fun with a friend. Price is fairly affordable at $28 including shoe hire. Though that might be just the student fare and may be a bit higher if not a student. I would recommend anyone to try it out. I am not a fit person and initially believe ld I would not be able to do it but with a little encouragement, I gave it a try and to my surprise was able to do it quite well as the beginner level. Will definitely be back and bring other friends. Hopefully I will gradually get better at it.
