My partner and I just got married at Brisbane International Virginia on 29/8/14
There were a few things wrong with this venue, which I was not happy with but did my best to not let it ruin my day.
The Bridal suite they offer to the bride to get ready in was amazing it was spacious and very comfortable... How ever going from this amazing apartment down to a budget room for what they call their âhoneymoon suiteâ was and utter disappointment! Not only did we have no blanket on the bed and no plug for our spa bath... House keeping had not put our champagne or chocolates in the room so my husband and i couldnât have our own celebration after our big day.
I had also asked to have some of the dessert from the reception sent to the room as i sometimes get sick after eating desert but I did not want to be sick during the first dance which was right after dessert... Anyway the container we had given them did not fit into the fridge, instead of doing us a favor and changing it to another container they left it out so they spoiled and we could not eat them.
We had bought Mr & Mrs pens to go on our signing table they were not there, later I saw they were with our register book, now common sence would tell you they would go on the signing table for the bride and groom... not the for the guests to use so there goes that momento out the window.
I had also bought bubbles to be blown for our first dance. My mother in law had to ask for them as she remembered half way through our first dance... I donât even think everyone got any.
I found I had to ask for a few things to be done, the private room they supplied to you to wait in before you get announced into the room was locked i had to ask for it to be unlocked. And by the end of the night people were starting to leave early as they had kids etc they had to take care of, i found i was running around asking for things to be spead up as people we leaving, i also went around telling everyone there was wedding cake to be had as half the guests didnât even know there was some there and quiet a few people missed out entirely.
Last but not least they were training a new wedding co-ordinater when we had booked our wedding that was fine but she didnât last so 2 months before our wedding we had the original wedding co ordinater come back in. Now she did a wonderful job but i rung up asking to speak to the wedding co ordinater and got told she had quit thus making me panic for a bit, i think this was probably a vital bit of information i could have been told
All in all the wedding was wonderful the staff were very lovely, the hubby and i had a wonderful day, i was just a little disappointed with the things we missed out on, they replied to my email and said they would look in to the honeymoon suite for future weddings and i could come and pick up the champagne and chocolates if i wanted to. It is good place to get married. Limited photo opportunities I would suggest getting married earlier in the day as we ran out of light for our photos. Make sure you have organised everything to the T is all i can suggest... Also the buffet food was amazing, they also let you alter the menu as long as it...
Read moreThe room smelt like curry or possibly some other foreign food, so you get hit with that as soon as you walk in. The walls were filthy. Like FILTHY. There were crumbs down the back of the couch. I went to give my daughter a bath and there was no plug. The lovely lady did bring one up for us after we made a call to reception. The beds are super hard and the linen was SO starchy. It was like hospital bedding, but worse. I had a good 4 hours broken sleep each night, I was just so uncomfortable. On the second day we came back from doing things and I went to have a lay down and watch some tele (possibly... more to come) in the bedroom. The remote was missing. After searching high and low I gave up but eventually found it when going to sleep at night. It was at the bottom of the bed under all of the covers. When flattening down the sheets, I have no idea how they didnât feel it! Or if they did, were they too far into bed making that they just left it there? The tv in the bedroom is another story. Every channel keeps coming up with no signal. Itâs also quite possibly the smallest tv in the world and hard to see anything from where the bed and it is positioned. The shampoo and conditioner have preservatives that are incredibly bad for anyone with sensitive skin. So if you have sensitive skin, I would suggest bringing your own. For a hotel right on a main road in Brisbane, I would expect it to be a bit more sound proof, but as 5am roles in and the traffic begins, good luck sleeping in. My daughter was awake every morning at 5am. Yay! Good things, the room is quite big. Thereâs lots of parking which was great for us when travelling with 2 cars. They give you a lot of towels, which is great for the person who likes to pop a towel on her head and a towel on her body and not worry about someone missing out on one. Would I stay here again? No, probably not. The cons did outweigh the pros...
Read moreGreat little gem. Used to live in the area and wasn't aware it was there. The rooms are comfortable, the large double bed is two king singles joined together, so expect a ridge down the middle. Pool area setting is lovely even for being in the middle of the carpark. The breakfast is grea and suitable to all dietary types The staff are really friendly and always smile. There is an odd ding dong that happened every few hours even into the night, like on a plan before the crew speak. Have no idea where it was coming from.
The only thing I would like to comment on is improvement to the bathroom. The fan and window vent haven't been cleaned for a very long time. I had to do a few minor maintenance tasks like screw the handle back on the sink tap and put the metal cover plate back on a wall socket but that's fine. The biggest issue are tiles in the bathroom and shower... they are exceptionally slippery when wet. It would be good to get some of the clear non-slip tape installed in the shower and stop it from leaking out to the floor. Anyone not steady on their feet like me needs to be cautious.
I would definitely...
