Five Star Meats — Local services in Clarkson

I recently visited your establishment intending to purchase eight pieces of eye fillet and six of scotch fillet, but I didn’t even get the chance to place my order due to the appalling service, or lack thereof, from the older woman behind the counter.

As commercial and stud Angus breeders, we take immense pride in our produce and expect it to be handled and promoted by individuals who respect both the product and the customer. Instead, I was met with a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that left me utterly repulsed.

I have never encountered such a disappointing interaction in my life. To have our high-quality beef represented by someone like her is not only disheartening but also damaging to your reputation.

I will not be purchasing meat from you again, and I strongly recommend rethinking this individual’s role in your business. Either keep her away from customers or find her a position where no customer interaction is required. Her behaviour is unacceptable and reflects poorly on your establishment.

I am generally underwhelmed by pies. Even award winning pies taste a generic to me, having different fillings such as beef and onion, beef and mushroom, beef and cheese etc, all bound by the same flavoured gravy, and usually on the salty side for my taste. And the meat texture is often a bit "bouncy" as it is not given the cooking time required to turn it to tender and juicy cubes. My first experience with a Five Star Meats Chicken, Leek and Potato pie was indeed a 5 star experience. From the perfectly cooked pastry, to the tender chicken pieces, leek and potato cubes bound with a flavouful and perfectly seasoned sauce. Nothing at all to complain about here. I'm very reluctant to post this review in case it affects me being able to purchase the amazing pies and sausage rolls they have started to sell. Because I have lived in Clarkson now for about fifteen years, I've tried every new bakery that pops ups pies and sausage rolls and they're all okay. But none that made me think "I want to marry this pie". I had gone all the way to Ashfield to the last crumb to get a very good pie recently-worth it but not something I can do often. But the baked goods at Five Star Meats-they have now a special place in my heart. The fillings are rich and delicious, but the pastry is chefs kiss. Amazing. Buttery, flakey and perfect.
