I've been shopping here since 2016 sometimes almost daily but today 9/3/2023 5.55pm will be my last visit to this store. I've seen the good and bad but I've refrained from posting but today's incident inspired me to write. Just because you're an organic store doesn't mean that you don't need to follow consumers law. If you advertise Full Cream Barambah Organic Milk on the shelf as $6.75 and at the check outs it scans at $6.95, not withstanding Consumers Law, what would a decent person do? No, not this store, no apology, and the attitude was well do you want it or not? No remorse at all. It’s like they think they’re so entitled that they do not need to remedy. “Oh we will change the tags” was their response. I was blown away. I don’t normally check my bill but on this occasion, I just so happen to have one item so it jumps out at me. Save your time and go to Terra Madre in Northcote. I still want to support small businesses so I won’t take this to consumer affairs or ACCC. Try this shenanigan on my mates again and I’ll get a...
Read moreAside from farmers markets there’s nowhere else I buy my food from. They have everything I need for my close to vegan lifestyle, so that includes household cleansing materials. If you see items like Moondara blueberries (at the time of writing, late Octoberthey still had frozen tubs in stock, and I’ve been buying hoards), Hunted & Gathererd chocolate bars you know they do their organic sourcing right. I find their prices reasonable (factor in the health benefits of a non UPF diet and good, well sourced organic food is an essential investment). I buy a lot of fresh fruit and veg here too, including organic bananas I haven’t found anywhere else. It’s a credit to A&S that they have this range, it looks good and it tastes good. Bear in mind it’s organic so it’s not pumped with presentation and preservation chemicals, some of the comments made in other reviews show blissful ignorance. Lastly, and most importantly the staff are friendly...
Read moreCustomer service has always been standoffish but I gave them the benefit of the doubt for a while, even though their goods are over-priced and fruit and veg often soft and droopy and way past their use-by (esp the bags of organic apples). They used to have a big "Chinese" sign in their window to appeal to a certain demographic, and a couple of their retail staff were Asian - an empty show of "progressive" multiculturalism, because they're not exactly friendly or welcoming. The matriarch was super condescending when I asked if they were going to restock an item, and when their wee shop girl (her daughter?) pulled an ugly face and acted as though I was contagious when she served me, I had to stop...
