Waited 6+ hours with a covid positive child who had smashed her teeth in while jumping off the bed. I didn't actually mind waiting that long as I know staff are under the pump and I understand they had to prioritise sicker kids. However, when we were finally seen by the dr my daughter who is unable to eat or speak and barely drink was so quickly dismissed it's negligent. The doctor took a photo of her mouth to "show the dentist" Then came back and told me to take her to a dentist and quickly discharged 🤦 keeping in mind she has covid we can't see a dentist anyway ? My issue is that my child will become sicker soon due to not being able to keep up with adequate food or fluid intake on top of COVID and her teeth being busted. After we've recovered from wasting our time at your hospital, I will be taking her to another hospital who actually give a hoot!!

I arrived as a visitor showing support for my son with the intent to get to ICU where my grandson was on life support. All visitors were led to a que and were vetted before going to the next station for a RATS test. In the vetting process, I was told my grandson already had two visitors (ie the maximum allowed without an exemption). I was told my son could request the exemption from the ICU manager. However, apparently there is no waiting room in ICU so I went back to the car park while my son had his visit. Although it appear that the process was highly inconvenient for me, I was impressed and relieved at how serious the hospital was taking their COVID protocols.

My 2mth old has been admitted here 5 times: due to his brain condition, he is terminal. First admission was the NICU. He was found face down struggling someone put him on his belly, he was isolated in his own room, not with the other babies due to mouth thrush. He was also found with a blanket over his face struggling again. 2nd admission: he was denied food, when he had a choking episode which he then had no food for a period of 12hrs which caused him to develop severe seizures, they chucked him on a glucose drip because they were understaffed and could not manage him if he was to have a choking episode, so they thought don’t feed him full stop. The amount of times I’ve had to argue across that I was worried about my child and his condition, I was made to feel I didn’t know better and that by their brief 4min max check ins of him that he was okay. They didn’t believe when I said he was having seizures and still don’t. They say it’s baby movements when it’s been picked up and identified on many EEG’s, also he does these before he has apnea episodes where he needs oxygen or resuscitation. I was put into a double room twice where they said that they do not put sick people in these rooms, but the first time my child was exposed to RSV in that room, and towards the end of the stay a new person was in this room with me and my little one cried and they told me to shut my baby up, which was impossible because they had 6 people in the room being loud during his sleeping time all being loud. This admission I just left yesterday, I was told to present to emergency because I wanted to give him his seizure rescue medication, which they did not give. I then waited for hrs to go into the ward, before being moved the oxygen was let off behind my baby’s head and the nurse did not know how to turn it off the noise was excruciatingly loud, I feel like my baby now may be deaf. She couldn’t turn it off for 10mins before many nurses came in to help her. I was then re-admitted into a double room despite my concerns from previous admission of not being safe and exposure to sick people, being a baby who children with his conditions do not survive respiratory illnesses. They put me back into a shared room. They charted one of his seizure medications wrong, and that night gave him 500mg of his med instead of 200mg and proceeded to do the same in the morning. Which both times I said he wasn’t acting like himself please observe him they said nothing was wrong. That morning they were going to discharge me with him in worse condition then when I presented to emergency and they came in afew hrs later and told me they had overdosed him twice which may be why he was unresponsive and stuck in sleeping and seizing the whole day. I called the aishwarya’s line due to his declining condition, the lady that came out to check on his was just another hospital nurse from that ward that had worked with my child before. She did nothing but suggest I submit a complaint form. She wasn’t concerned with his condition, that he was barely breathing and unable to wake with an extremely low heart rate following his overdosing twice. That night a new person was put in the double room with me a which has a shared bathroom, they presented to emergency with illness and a baby who was seizing due to illness. They said many times I’m sick my baby’s sick and when I questioned staff if they were sick I was told no, although a curtain between us said otherwise. The following morning I spoke to the ward clerk and let her know my concerns of having my child in there with someone who is constantly coughing and sneezing along with their baby also doing so, I was told we don’t put sick people in shared rooms. On discharge they told me the person in the room with me has covid and RSV, and I was sent home. So not only did they neglectfully care for my child by overdosing him, they also exposed him to deadly airborn virus’s that could kill him.

He is now coming down with a cough and a sneeze the following day after discharge. If things don’t change my son will be one of...

I took our 8 year old son to the Emergency Department (ED) at Fiona Stanley Hospital because he had been experiencing severe pain in his right side since the morning. After conducting an ultrasound, the doctors diagnosed him with acute appendicitis. However, they informed us that because he was under 12 years old, he needed to be treated at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH). The Fiona Stanley ED doctors had multiple phone conversations with PCH, and we were assured that the PCH ED was expecting us. They even advised that the fastest way to get there was by car rather than by ambulance.

We arrived at PCH around 12:30 AM on Wednesday. Despite the urgency of our son’s condition, the ED staff did not take immediate action. After my repeated requests, a surgeon finally came to examine him. The surgeon, Mona, stated that his blood test results from Fiona Stanley showed a CRP level of 8, which she did not consider high. I told her that the blood test was done at 9:30 at Fiona and after that he complained that the pain moved from side to his belly button which can be a sign of appendix burst. So it’s better to repeat the test but she did not lister. She also dismissed the findings of the Fiona Stanley radiologist, saying, “We don’t believe in Fiona’s radiologist, so we are not concerned about your child.” She suggested that our son might have a viral infection and decided to wait until the radiology department opened at 8 AM to conduct another ultrasound. Meanwhile, they took a nasal swab but did nothing else for him overnight. We never heard the result of the swab whether they find any viral infection.

At around 8 AM, a surgical team assessed him and reiterated that acute appendicitis was unlikely, again suggesting a viral infection. However, by 11:30 AM, when the new ultrasound results came back, they confirmed that he did, in fact, have acute appendicitis. At this point, we urged them to take him to the operating theatre as soon as possible. However, the surgeon insisted that his case was not an emergency.

I heard from a doctor mention that the ultrasound showed fluid around his appendix. When I brought this up, I was told it was not concerning. But I knew something was wrong—my son’s pain had shifted from his side to the middle of his abdomen, which I feared indicated a ruptured appendix. His pain was so intense that he could only find relief with oxycodone. I repeatedly told the nurses that he was deteriorating and looked pale, but they informed me that he could not be taken to surgery yet because there were other, more urgent cases ahead of him. I told them if they don’t take him to the theatre there might be another Aishwariya’s tragedy happening.

In desperation, I called for Ashwarya’s Care to escalate the situation. A representative came, but instead of offering any real solution, she simply reiterated what the nurses had already said. When I asked how long we would have to wait, she responded, “We don’t know—it could be five or six days,” which only increased my distress.

By 4:30 PM, after hours of me crying, begging, and pleading that my son was worsening, they finally took him to the operating theatre. He remained in surgery for nearly three hours. After the operation, his surgeon visited us and confirmed that his appendix had perforated. She acknowledged that I was right to insist on surgery and warned that the delay could have led to a tragic outcome. She even encouraged us to file a formal complaint, stating that the hospital should listen to parents.

Later, I learned that out of the 12 operating theatres at PCH, only two were allocated for emergency cases. A well-managed medical system should be able to recognize when there is an overwhelming number of emergency cases and temporarily delay elective surgeries to accommodate them.

This entire experience has left me deeply shaken. I have lost trust in the medical team, and even after my son’s surgery, I remained anxious about every aspect of his care. The trauma of this ordeal continues to affect me, and I am now struggling with...

Breeanna one of the nurse in Perth children hospital called me last Thursday (June 19,2025)telling me to have my daughters procedure done today monday(June 23,2025 @6:30am need to be there, then she asked me to take my daughter to the hospital June 20,2025 for her blood test, we did everything she asked for, then today my husband didn’t go to work just to take our daughter to the hospital, they arrive 6:27am coz i told him to make sure you arrive at 6:30am, then 9:04am my husband phone me only to inform that the nurses couldn’t find any papers for my daughter’s procedure, it means that Breeanna didn’t prepare all the papers for my daughter’s procedure, the nurses been trying to get hold of her but she never answered any call, me and my husband was also trying to call her but she didn’t answer either, i felt like she’s trying to play games towards us maybe because i am Asian i don’t know, how can you do that?this is a serious matter and you have guts to play us around?negligent of duty for not doing her job properly she shouldn’t be working there in the first place, if i were you i would resigned, you are very unprofessional imagine we don’t have proper sleep to prepare for the procedure we have to wake up early hours of the morning and drive more than an hour to be there coz we live far-away from the hospital, only to find out you didn’t ready all the papers needed for my child’s procedure?how ridiculous worker sorry for my word but i am not really happy about what she did, my husband didn’t go to work because of you, this is not a simple mistakes, from Thursday since the day you called me you have plenty time to prepare all the papers needed, if you can’t do your job properly then you shouldn’t be working, workers like you will only give bad record to the hospital, the hospital itself is very nice but only ruined because of having incompetent workers this is our 2nd disappointment first was the doctor who did my daughter’s procedure last year made mistakes that’s why we have to do it again this year, they never heard us complaining, but now with this another incompetent worker making another mistakes then i guess i have the right to make comment about it, this is Australia i was expecting for a better service because this is a progressive country how embarrassing having so much mistakes, i wonder how many patients experienced this very bad experiences that we had, please improve your service and hired a better workers , hire a very good doctor not the worker that bring bad records to your hospital it is...
