Soak Bathhouse Alexandria – Beautiful Space with Great Potential and a Few Teething Issues I was so excited to check out the newly opened Soak Bathhouse in Alexandria, and overall, it’s an absolutely beautiful space. I’ve now visited twice—first on my own, and then again with three girlfriends for a soak session and massage. The facilities are thoughtfully designed and the whole vibe is calm, modern, and tranquil. The magnesium pools, saunas, and steam rooms are standouts, and it’s refreshing to have a wellness destination like this so close to the city. That said, as a new venue, there are a few things that could definitely be improved: • Fire alarm disruption: On our first visit, the fire alarm unexpectedly went off. While the staff were calm and professional, it was clear they weren’t entirely sure how to handle the situation. We were all asked to evacuate outside, in the cold, still in our bathrobes or just towels. It was their first time dealing with this kind of issue, and to their credit, they did offer us a voucher as compensation for the time lost (around a quarter of our session) — which was appreciated. Hopefully they now have a clearer plan in place for future emergencies. • Locker and security system: I was assigned a locker that already had someone else’s belongings inside. Not everyone pays for a lock (which costs extra), so lockers can feel a little disorganised and unsecured. Locker locks should really be included in the experience to ensure everyone’s items are safe. • Bath shoes and hygiene: Bath shoes are not provided, which seems unsanitary for shared wet areas. It’s something I’d expect from a high-end bathhouse, and their absence was noticeable. • Expensive robe hire: Robes cost $10 to hire, and you don’t even get to keep them. It feels like an unnecessary extra charge given the already premium pricing of sessions. • Massage therapist gender: When booking a massage, there was no option to select the gender of the therapist. One of my friends was quite uncomfortable when a male therapist arrived unexpectedly. A simple gender preference option would go a long way in creating a more comfortable and inclusive experience. Despite these teething issues, I still really enjoyed my time at Soak. The space itself is gorgeous and the intention behind it is clear — offering accessible wellness in a beautifully designed, urban sanctuary. With a few improvements to systems and inclusions, it has the potential to become one of Sydney’s go-to wellness spots. I’ll be back… just with my own robe, lock, and bath shoes next time!

Sorry but I have to be honest, the atmosphere and facilities are good but for the price you might as well hire hotel with spa and pool and have it all night instead of only 90 minutes. Also only 3 pools at different temperatures and steam room and sauna. No spa, yes agreed as the staff mentioned if its only 1 small spa not much room and if whole pool then too loud but for the price and just use of pool and sauna for 90 minutes is a bit steep. The drinks are non alcoholic which is fine but poor quality, we had 2 drinks in our package, we only took 1, im sure you could tell people unlimited drinks and they would only ever take 1 and the "snacks" were small kiddy muslie type bars for the price you would expect shrimp cocktails or mini sandwiches. Look the pool and regulated numbers and clientel is of a higher standard but not worth those funds for a dip in heated pool and for limited time. We left 50 minutes into our 90 minute session. A staffed bar with real food and wider range or drinks like a fruit juice bar and better lounge seating might help but even then i would question the price for the privelidge to sit in a pool for an hour. Conclusion: Get a hotel room with a spa and use it all night and have tv and music and room service.

We visited Soak Alexandria twice in its opening two weeks. The first visit (an early bird weekday morning) was incredible. Calm, relaxing and relatively quiet. There were only around 8 other people in the entire complex - sharing a warm pool, hot pool, cold plunge, sauna and steam room. The second visit was during the weekday also, but in the late morning. There were around 15 other people. It was noticeably louder and less calm, but not impossible to tolerate. If you're looking for a quiet, isolated soaking experience then Soak is not the place for you - and they make this clear upon booking. It is a public bathhouse after all that encourages conversation and laughter. A good concept, if not for the enclosed space. Is it worth the money? Yes. But in my opinion, only if you come during early bird sessions when it is quieter and cheaper. The facilities are great. There are lockers and unisex showers. They do their best to keep the bathhouse clean and dry with ample staff always working. There's also complimentary tea which is a nice touch. But at $60 a soak, coming during busier periods is simply not worth it.

I experienced Soak on a Monday afternoon, overall it’s a beautiful space to relax and wasn’t too crowded, I don’t mind the soft open chatter, it does have a more social feel to the large open space and that’s ok.

It was however a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions this place as my arrival and departure were disappointing experiences but everything in between was as blissful as I could make a soak session.

Parking - seems to be a new complex and signage is not very clear. I parked underground, there’s no tarrifs sign to know what you’re being charged. Never being here before it was hard to find your way to Soak as signage is not clear enough and elevators are really confusing, it shouldn’t be this hard. I had to ask someone who directed me to ground floor and outside the building into courtyard.

Staff were welcoming and polite but I was then informed the Steam room was out of action today much to my disappointment. But putting that aside I made the most of my session.

Thoroughly enjoyed the sauna, pools , plunge and dump bucket in shower was the best. Good alternative option for a no plunge. Teas provided were a lovely touch and change rooms/ amenities are an elegant and clean space, bonus swimmer spinner is cool too.

On my departure parking again was a mission, you scan the QR code for payment however my plates weren’t recognised . Soak also gives you a half price discount code to use. I had to drive to boom gate and call the number for assistance and go through the payment steps. The biggest shock of all time parking would have been $60 without the discount code. I had to pay $30 with the code which is still a joke . Overall this ruined my experience completely from calm and relaxed to just furious and annoyed.

Do I think Soak was worth the $90 definitely not. I didn’t even get steam with that. For a more enjoyable experience don’t park in the building, it really adds extra stress and disappointment...

Soak Bathhouse in Alexandria is an absolute oasis for relaxation and self-care. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported into a serene, beautifully designed space that feels both calming and luxurious. Their approach to wellness is holistic, blending traditional bathhouse experiences with modern touches to create the perfect escape.

The facilities are exceptional—spotlessly clean, calming, and thoughtfully designed with every detail in mind. I especially loved the thermal circuit: the variety of sauna, steamed room and magnesium-enriched plunge pools left me feeling incredibly refreshed and recharged. After my visit, I slept like a baby—honestly, the magnesium really worked wonders on my muscles!

Soak also offers plenty of water and unlimited tea, which is a nice touch to help keep you hydrated throughout your visit. That said, it's also a great idea to BYO water bottle to stay hydrated, especially if you're planning on spending a long time soaking and enjoying the thermal experience.

The unisex changing rooms are well-designed, but I’d love to see them separated for added privacy. This would make the experience even more comfortable and convenient for everyone. Additionally, larger lockers would be a nice touch, especially for those with bigger bags or multiple items to store.

The staff at Soak are incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. It’s also a perfect spot for bonding with friends—I had the best time with my girlfriends, enjoying the saunas, pools, and great conversation.

Whether you’re looking for a solo retreat or a group experience, Soak goes above and beyond to ensure your visit is truly special. I can’t recommend it enough for anyone looking to unwind, reset, or treat themselves to some...
