UPDATE Better to go here mid morning, not first thing, as many of the specials and hero baked goods are not available before 8/9am. I’ve been earlier several times and they are still prepping before this time. Service is also not as good as usual, or as the Clovelly store - had quite a surly staff member last time who got a coffee order wrong (made a small not the large as ordered). They just snatched it back and re-poured into a bigger cup… ———— Tuga pastries second venue, with a fabulous array of delicious goods as per Clovelly. We had the creme brûlée danish, and savoury danish. Both delightful (although the savoury may be even better warm - but the queue to heat was too long at the time). All the other items looked just as tasty. It’s busy so expect to wait (there was some delay with only one person at the counter too). It’s also a little tricky to spot from the road at the moment due to a development directly in front, so easier to walk than drive for now if you can as otherwise there is very limited parking. There is an adjoining coffee shop too, personally I prefer the Village coffee at their clovelly shop but still good! Overall it’s great to have another option for when you need a Tuga fix.

Prior to arriving, we checked online to see their closing time, which said 3:30pm on a Sunday. We arrived and were in line about to order at 2:54pm. The kids and their grandmother went to get a seat and were told they could not sit down as they were closing. When I confirmed that they were closing at 3:30pm, I was told, "no, we close at 4pm, but we only do takeaways from 3pm". As this dialogue was being played out, people at 2 other tables were sitting down. So we proceeded to sit down. Another friendlier staff member did come over towards close, and kindly tell us that they were closing soon. In customer service industries, communication is key! This information should definitely be displayed on their website/google or signage up for patrons to be aware, to avoid bad communication to patrons from staff. Other than that...the coffee was not the best I've ever had, tasting sightly burnt. The pastries on the other hand, were unique and delicious! Would recommend this place for a unique and tasty dessert experience only.

Nice little cafe with an excellent selection of pastries, breads, sandwiches, cakes, wraps and more. The service by the young lady who was totally all over everything and multiple tasking like a cafe professional, was excellent. The barista was charming and helpful when I couldn’t find the sugar. He made a superb latte. There was another man but he was just there physically, but looked as though he needed a holiday. If you happen to live in Alexandria or or coming to the local Bunnings, Petbarn or Victorias Basement then from these within minutes you’ll be at Tuga Cafe. Which have the best pastel de Natas I’ve had since arriving in Australia. I’ve loved these since being introduced to them in the breakfast room of the InterContinental in Lisbon 6 years ago. And these are the ones that took me back to those fond days. At the end of the day, a cafe should be about the service, food and great experience, Tuga delivers on these all. The Portugese tart was very yummy, with a crispy outside and creamy filling - would recommend! Although we didn't see prices so I'm not sure how much this is.

Nutella croissant was quite big, again not sure of the price but the pastry wasn't as crispy/flakey - still yummy though

We also ordered a chicken pie and the lady asked us for the name "for the pie", so we assumed they were going to call out our name. We waited right in front of their coffee machine to the side and my partner was watching them work, 15minutes later a guy came up to me as I was still waiting and asked if we were waiting for something. I said yes, my name is __ and we got a pie, then he grabbed the pie that had been heated up ages ago and put on the metal bench behind the counter and said - it was already here, it was ready. I was very confused as we were waiting within 2 metres of the staff and we were watching them, no one called our name or gestured to us our food was ready? His tone when he said "it was here, it was ready" made it seem like I was supposed to know which food was mine and I was supposed to ask them to give it to me? If it was because we didn't hear them when they called our name (I doubt it as I heard the other name) , then I assume he would have said that??

Anyway I probably wouldn't come an hour out of the way to...
