Today (1st of April) we were in IKEA to purchase some kitchenware and furniture. After searching around for about 6 hours, I paid for the portable kitchenware and headed to the transport service in order to pay for the furniture and deliver them. Since it was a long journey, my wife asked me to stop for a second and eat something in the small restaurant in back of the cashiers. She said the baby is also hungry and she needs some boild water to make a quick food for him. I headed to the restaurant, ordered some food for both of us and asked for the boiled water too. A young smiling lady gave me the boiled water in 3 nested paper cups to avoid burning my hand while carrying it. I thanked her and delivered the food and boild water to our table. After eating the food and feeding the baby, my wife asked me to bring her a half glass of one of the free juices. I took one of the paper cups and headed toward the free drinks. All of the sudden a women came from nowhere and stopped me from filling the cup as if I'm doing something wrong. I said, what? She said you cannot drink with that cup (in German), you haven't paid for it!! I asked once more to make sure I heard correctly and in a very harrasing tone she said no, I'm not allowing you to drink with this. I said WHAT THE??? I got this from the restaurant! She shouted at the restaurant to investigate this and the young lady confirmed. Then again she said no, you cannot. I put the paper cup down and she immediately threw it in the trash can. I was so nervous and confused that I went to the restaurant lady to ask about the reason for this extreme behavior and she said to be honest, I don't understand- sorry. She said she doesn't know why did she behave like this and tried to apologize. This behavior was so insulting and extreme that we didn't even order the furniture and immediately left IKEA with the unordered paper including all the listed furniture at hand. It really hurts to be a frequent customer of a place, buy 1000 Euro in less than a month and to face this reaction from its employees. This is not tolerable by no means and I'm not going back again. I'll post this review on other review platforms as well and will send a copy to IKEA headquarters to let them know about what's going on on the frontend. It is really a shame. The worse customer relations I've ever experienced. After getting home we threw all of the purchased stuff to a corner and don't have the passion to use...
Read moreAfter sale Service is horrible, online shopping experience is terribly-the worst in my life, Service hotline never picked up the phone(which means, if your goods are broken, they will never pick up the phone either). The point is, If you want to buy low value vase and decorations, choose Ikea. If you want to buy more valuable drawers and furnitures, and have things delivered to your place, never choose Ikea. When the deliver time showed in the system is passed, the feedback from the service email is: the deliver time in the system is not reliable and fixed - This is contradict to what I heard from the Ikea shoppers - if the day is not certain, then how am I expect my furniture and take my days off from work? Their service staff then sent me the deliver vendor's name - DPD. They asked me to track it using the DPD code, which was never showed in Ikea's system. So if I did not contact the service, I may never know who is handling my goods, and where to track to goods. When I called the DPD hotline by the number given by Ikea - it is an beendet nummer, wrong number! The DPD deliver is the worst in city as any one may experience: they input in the system claiming that they can not find me, without even a phone call. And the fact is, I am sitting at home a whole day, waiting for the delivery. The the result may be that I have to pick up my furniture somewhere in the city in DPD station. And it is damn heavy. I ended up pick up anyway. Then why am I paying Ikea for deliver to my home.
In conclusion, the online shopping system in Ikea is a joke compared to Amazon or any other online shopping in the city. The logistic network for Ikea is also rather bad. Ikea only cares about good marketing and how to sell goods. They paid little attention to after sales process. As I mentioned previously, people may pay attention before you decide to purchase expensive furniture in Ikea, book furniture delivery...
Read moreNot for family!! We had a very unpleasant experience with the cafe today! We used to go to Ikea in every country we lived in the last years, but today in Austria was the worst experience ever! We went to the cafe, buying some food and an ice-cream for our 2 years old child, very tired due it was really late for him. When it was the time for getting the ice-cream, we used the coin given us from the cafe to use the machine, without success. We play some minutes with the machine, trying to figure out what was going on. Than, my wife went to the cafe assistants; after some time, she came back after they told her it was too late and the machine was already closed. Checking the phone, it was 8.58: this means that we tried to use the machine at least 8.53, and the cafe should close at 9PM. What was very bad is the behaviour of the cafe people when we asked for some explanation: one started to say that she doesn’t speak english (we are not german speaker), the other girl present told us that they were 3 instead of 4, and so they decided to close sooner the ice-cream machine; we highlighted the fact others machine were working, and that we had a little baby crying for the promised ice-cream; no way. And than the worst: we asked for the Director to come; they started to ignore us, without any replay. I went to one of the kass, but the worker there told us she was of another department. I went than to the delivery service (it was at least 9.20PM than), one operator told us to wait, but after 10 minutes we decide to leave ikea, it was really to late. I lived in many different places around the world, I really was shocked to learn that here in Austria there is no respect for the customer, neither for families! IKEA family and child friendly? Absolutely, it depends on which...
