My experience at the U.S. Embassy in Brussels was very smooth and well-organized. The embassy has two entrances — one for officials with cars (near to the metro station) and another for people with appointments, so make sure you go to the right gate. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the process is quick and efficient. Only people with appointments are allowed inside, and companions must wait outside. No electronic devices except a mobile phone are permitted, so avoid carrying other gadgets. You can leave your backpack at the security desk. Appointment/ identity verification done at the gates before we enter and then security checks done at the gates. Post that we enter the building where we are again checked and post this point we are allowed to carry only files, wallets, phones and jackets. Bags have to be stored in the shelves which can be collected again on exit. Photo Booth inside the building on which works with credit cards. We opted to collect the passport in person but the collection centre is very far from the embassy.

If you respond back the message is completely ignored. Additionally, for passports you’re told an email will be sent once it’s ready which never happens.
