There are much better schools in Prea. I have taken kitesurfing classes in various locations and do not recommend classes with Kiteiscool.
My concerns were the following: The teaching methods are inefficient and contrary to instructions I’ve had in every other class including some with IKO certified instructors. However, Kiteiscool will say they follow IKO methods. To waterstart, students are taught to drop the kite into the water, place the board on their feet, and then pull the kite out of the water to start. Even though I told the instructor I felt comfortable with the waterstart position where the kite is at 12, I was pushed to try starting with the kite down in the water. I wasted a lot of time trying to do this method which I had yet to see in any other class that I took. Entering the water is done with the kite down floating on the water. It’s my understanding that this is contrary to best practices given the potential risks of damage to the kite in a spot that is quite choppy and windy. Students are taught to prioritize the board over the kite. This is potentially quite dangerous to surrounding kitesurfers or swimmers if students are taught to just drop the kite into the water in order to focus on the board. In every other class I took, I was taught to prioritize the kite over the board in part for safety reasons. Part of learning to kite includes learning how to retrieve one’s board. Instructors allow students to go so far downwind, the walk back up is excessively long and wastes time that could have been spent in the water.
These methods are so inefficient, it is no surprise that the minimum private class package is three hours. However, charging students a minimum of close to 1000 reais for classes that teach poor practices is not right. I was about 80 percent on my way to becoming an independent kiter when I took a class with Kiteiscool and left halfway through because it felt like it was a waste of time and money. Because I decided to leave the class, I was told a partial refund was not possible. Students can get a better deal at other schools further down the beach with instructors that prioritize teaching best practices and helping them become...
Read moreI am more than happy to write a glowing review for this amazing kite surfing school! From start to finish, my experience was absolutely fantastic. First of all, the staff is amazing. They are knowledgeable, patient, speak English very well, and ofcourse enthusiastic about kite surfing. Their passion for the sport is contagious, and they made me feel welcome and at ease from the moment I walked in. The instructors take the time to explain everything in a clear and concise way. They are always willing to answer any questions They made the learning process fun and exciting, while a was nervous at first. When we had some trouble (not their fault), I was amazed with their solution. The equipment is in excellent condition and well-maintained. They have everything you need to get started with kite surfing. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and -glasses ;) Overall, I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning this amazing sport. The staff, facilities, and community are all top-notch, and I can't wait to continue my kite surfing journey with them in...
Read moreHad an awesome time in Jeri and certainly a great experience learning kitesurfing! Kiteiscool did a good job organizing the trips to Prea beach (~30min by van), where they have a little wooden hut, very convenient to store your stuff and seek some shade. Communication via WhatsApp was easy, their prices are competitive and decrease the more lessons you take. My instructor was the awesome! He spoke English and they use walkie-talkies for the lessons (student/instructor), that certainly helped a lot! Only minor remark: The equipment was ok, not top notch, and the lessons had to be paid in advance which I haven’t experienced in other countries so far.
I’m super happy with the progress and my skillset after only a few days with Kiteiscool in Jeri (+ IKO certification) 🙌🏼 Can highly recommend to check out Jeri for a (kite) vacation, loved it there 😊 Even during „low season“ in early February we had around min. 9/10 to max. 18 knots, on average 12 knots every day! And definitely recommend Kiteiscool...
