BLACK BUYERS BEWARE!!!! FOR REAL!!!

I WAS RACIALLY PROFILED!! I went here on 8/13 around 4:30 pm just to browse, because I recently bought shorts from LL bean and I loved them so I was going to see if they had them.

There were copious amounts of time when employees and a security guard roamed around me and followed me throughout the store.

One older employee with red hair came in the section I was in with the security guard and acted as if they were performing tasks, despite not having product to put away. At first, I assumed it was a coincidence because it’s a big store and my first thought wasn’t racial profiling. However, when I moved away from the area, she slowly followed as well. To me this seemed a bit odd.

Later, after my partner arrived and saw my discomfort, another employee, whom could’ve have been a manager by the attire he was wearing, also came and lingered around me and was trying to look busy, again despite not having a clear objective to his presence. When I moved from the area, he followed me as well as I walked towards the front of the store.

This was incredibly disheartening and made me feel extremely vulnerable. I couldn’t enter this place of business simply to browse or possibly spend my hard earned money without being targeted and assuming I’m a certain kind of person just because of the way I look.

I have contacted LL Bean and I truly hope they take this concern seriously.

BLACK BUYERS BEWARE Incredibly disappointed with this store and how they racially profiled my partner today. My partner came this afternoon (8/13/23) around 4:30, a little before me, to shop for some shorts he had bought earlier this summer. When I arrived, he expressed being uncomfortable with an older red headed associate and the in-house security guard following him around the store prior to my arrival. While with him, I witnessed a different associate (someone I assumed was leadership as they were dressed in a dress shirt) coincidentally show up and hang near the bag section that my partner and I were shopping in. I observed this associate doing nothing save touching a few products and wandering aimlessly. Corporate has already been called and hopefully amends are made, but racial profiling is incredibly disgusting and these associates...

I'll be honest the clothing is a little expensive but really good quality so if you have the money it's a good idea. But when I went into this store as soon as I entered it seemed like this one employee was following me around, I even heard her make remarks about me and how I was dressed trying to profile me. She was very rude to me when I wanted to try something on making me feel like I've committed a crime without doing anything. I was walking around the whole store because I'm looking for Christmas presents for my family members and friends, but that seems to make her even more suspicious. I probably would have bought quite a bit that day but that one employee made me want want to shop at this LL Bean and maybe all others from now on.
