I have been buying 80% of my groceries here for 10 years or so. Not because it's a good store, but because it's a block away from my house and I'm lazy. You can imagine, I know many of the staff. I couldn't figure out why the staff would become unfriendly the odd time I needed to return something. In 10 years, I've maybe returned 8 or 9 items. Well it's because the owner gives the staff a hard time when items are returned. I knew the owner was a penny pincher, but really? Dude, you are lucky to have good staff, some have been there for years. Customers return things sometimes guy, and you may not get your money back from the distributor every time. That seems like a cost of running a business. So I'm going to be forcing my lazy self to go elsewhere. I spent thousands a year at this place, but get treated poorly trying to return something that costs $5. Sad.
Lol, saw the owners response. I've never met them, they don't know me. I've never abused anyone, the staff like me. You go on though lol. This is my first review BTW. I think you have me confused with someone else. I left this review cause it sucks that your staff feel bad when doing right by the customer because they are made to feel bad. They told me this. Maybe do better from the feedback? Or get defensive, you do you. And for the record, being a small business doesn't mean you can do no wrong. You can always tell what kind of person the owner is when they leave a snarky response to...
Read moreThis has been my grocery store for 25 years. Its close and the prices are about the same as every where else with less variety than a big box store. I am giving this 4 stars because I hate when everyone jumps on a band wagon for no reason. They suddenly stopped providing plastic bags and you have to purchase a paper bag. Nine times out of tem I dont have a reusable bag so its a bit of a pain. But now I had to bag my own gorceries. Prices go up customer service goes down. Over the last 35 years stores change back and forth paper to plastic and there is no where that it shows an impact on the environemt. People still buy plastic bags for their garbage and they still go into the land fill. Paper bags are made with a percentage of new material. This means you use the paper bag once and it goes into recycling, for those who recycle. Now that they are getting to the level of the large box stores I mine as well go there to shop. Better variety, cheaper prices due to large bulk buying and in some cases they still bag for me. I am dissapointed that customer service over 40 years has not improved in most industries. So why not my nice little neighborhood gracery store. I'm sure the seniors that have shopped there since it was built are not impressed and neither is the...
Read moreThis is a small supermarket that sources from the Safeway brand of products. It is the size and selection typical of a 1960's supermarket, which makes sense as this is when it was built, and it has not been substantially modified since. It does quite nicely for all your basic shopping, just don't expect there to be the selection of a large modern supermarket. I generally do my weekly shop here, augmenting at the big stores once in a while for extra selection, and better price. Meat department is above par, produce is about par with the larger chains. I hardly ever see stock out, unlike another chain that shall remain no named. Service is fine - they generally will open another till during the day if the lines get longer than 3 or 4 people. Even at peak times, lineups are 1-2 people usually. Credit card now has tap and go payment. The look of the store is kind of stark - could use some better colors and new consistent floor tiles. If you're walk dependent busing to school from here, you will be able to buy everything you need here to get by, just not the same selection as a larger...
