One wouldn't expect to be going out of their way to rate a border crossing FIVE STARS, but here I am.
I have crossed here as an American several times, and am astounded with the friendliness, helpfulness, and welcoming attitude of the border patrol agents here. They make sure to do their job and take the security of their nation seriously, but they don't go out of their way to intimidate or harm anyone like the U.S. side does.
When we last visited they had some issues with their systems. It was genuinely scary for us because nobody wants to be stopped for an extended period at a border crossing, but they took the time to politely explain that there was a problem with their system impacting almost everybody and there was no cause for concern on our part - a genuine relief, and a polite reminder that we were dealing with other humans. They simply weren't on a power trip, and it's not everyday you encounter people with their power like that.
After the issues were worked around, they gave us information to make the process easier "for next time" (how nice!) and wished us a pleasant stay in their country, and reminded us of the time zone switch even though we were only intending on being there for a few hours.
