My three children have swim lessons every Saturday at the YMCA. After swim class they always get to pick out a cupcake from Steph "The Cupcake Mama's" shop. When it came time for their three back to back to back birthdays in February, March, and April, I knew that we had to go with birthday cakes from the Cupcake Mama.
Due to covid, two of my children had never had a "normal" birthday party, and I wanted this year's to be memorable. Steph's cakes helped make these birthdays truly special.
I provided Steph with a few pictures of my children's favorite toys and favorite colours. From this direction, Steph sent me several concept photos of elements she thought would work together and combined them into three one-of-a-kind designs.
Besides looking great, the cakes were delicious. My three children all picked cookies & cream (which had actual chunks of cookie!) for the buttermilk filling which elevated already grade A chocolate cakes.
At all three parties, everyone was coming up to me asking who made the cakes and commenting that they had never tasted cakes like these before. My bother-in-law specifically came up to me to tell me he had bought a good looking cake from somewhere else, but felt cheated because it didn't taste anywhere near as good as the Cupcake Mama cakes
Finally, i need to specifically mention the last cake Steph did, which was for my daughter Annabelle. I told Steph that Annabelle loves her pink kitty and donuts. Rather than taking what I consider the easy way out with fondent, Steph handmade actual donuts and other confectionaries out of chocolate. Steph warned us that in the past, children have fought over the highly sought after chocolate "Popsicles" (which is exactly what happened).
Additionally, Annabelle got ill two days prior to her birthday which caused us to delay her party by a week. Steph was more than accommodating working around this last minute change.
Steph, thank you for everything, and we will see you next Saturday...

We trusted her with the most important baked good of our lives: our wedding cake. And let me tell you, she delivered not just a cake, but a confectionary masterpiece that could have brought world peace if it had been shared with the UN.
From the moment we tasted her samples, we knew we were dealing with a baking wizard. Chocolate so rich it could pay your rent, vanilla so smooth it could host a late-night talk show, and a buttercream frosting so heavenly it made the angels jealous. We debated eloping just to eat the cake sooner.
The big day arrived, and so did the cake — towering, flawless, and smelling like sweet dreams. Guests gasped when they saw it. “Did they hire Michelangelo to bake this?” someone whispered. Another asked, “Is this a cake or a portal to a better dimension?” It was both.
Cupcake Mama, you’re not just a baker. You’re a magician, a poet, and possibly a deity in disguise. If anyone out there is debating whether to hire her for their wedding cake, birthday cake, or just because you love cake. Stop. Do it. Do it now. Your taste buds — and your guests — will thank you for the rest...

The process is a bit different than one might expect: You contact Stephanie via her website and then she confirms the timing and other details (cake flavor, etc). I asked for half a dozen given the small size of my family which was not a problem (the website shows prices for a dozen). She then sends you a link to make a payment via credit card. This was is very easy to use. Then at the appointed time you go to the little restaurant in the YMCA, give your name, and they hand you a box of happiness.
On to the cupcakes themselves: unbelievable. Yes, they cost more than a grocery store bakery but you can taste the difference and you support a local artist. The cake is so moist and perfect, the frosting is not overly sweet so you won't be scraping any of it, and the detailing is Food Network level skilled. My 9 year old daughter was in heaven and she's already asked for them for next year.
We gave two to neighbours and they were also amazed at the quality.
Thanks Stephanie, you made a...
