Lake Huron Home — Local services in Kincardine

My family has been in the Kincardine area for many years and as such we always try to support local businesses. That is why we shop at Lake Huron Home (formerly B&W Appliances). A few years back we bought our fridge and stove from B&W and had a great experience even though we were dealing with COVID delivery issues. We more recently purchased some living room furniture from Lake Huron Home and the whole experience was amazing. Everything about this business had been 5 star until our most recent purchase that caused the 3 star review. In April 2025 I purchased a new Whirlpool washer and dryer. While picking a set the sales staff were knowledgeable and great to deal with. The washer and dryer were delivered a week later and the delivery people were great and hooked everything up. The first week of having this brand new set we noticed that the washing machine made some unusual thumping sounds. It sounded like the inside drum was banging on the outside case of the washer during the spin cycle. I attended Lake Huron Home and spoke to the staff as well as showing them a video that captured the clunking sounds. This is when I learned of a policy that Lake Huron Home has on not replacing defective appliances but having them examined and repaired under the warranty. The staff was good to deal with and had a repair person attend within a few days. According to the repair person this is a common problem with Whirlpool washing machines and it required a few extra tap screws to be inserted to stop the inner drum from bouncing around. Then in May my wife went to use the steam feature on the dryer, which resulted in our laundry room floor being covered in water that had leaked out of the machine. I returned to Lake Huron Home and spoke to the staff and showed them a video of water pouring out of the dryer onto our floor. Once again a repair person was contacted to attend and examine and fix the issue. It is now July, roughly 3 months later and we are still waiting for this issue to be fixed. I now have some concerns over the quality of Whirlpool appliances but that is for another review. The point of my review is that while the staff are excellent and everyone has been great to deal with the policy of not replacing faulty brand new appliances has left me feeling like I dropped over $3000.00 on broken down un-reliable appliances. We had hopped these appliances would provide us many years of reliable service but instead we have had to have the washing machine fixed the week we received it and we are still waiting 3 months later to have the dryer issues repaired. I should have kept our old laundry set as I am now stuck with brand new defective appliances that were broken out of the box. I have friends who have shopped at appliance stores in Southampton and Owen Sound and when issues arose with newly purchased items the faulty appliance was replaced immediately. I do not want to deter anyone from shopping at Lake Huron Home but if you are looking to make an appliance purchase from this store just be aware or ask about this defect policy before making a purchase so there are...

My husband and I bought a gently used washing machine and dryer from this spot. It was delivered and set up on time. The purchase was for a house we refinished and wanted to rent. We made the mistake of assuming both items worked when we bought them as the sales manager assured us they did.

A couple months later when our renters moved in the washer and dryer tried to get used for the very first time, neither of them worked. Both needed to be repaired although never used or even touched since install from the store. We were told the repairs would not be covered since it was out of the 30 day warranty period.

Excellent service from Richard, Nathan and their delivery staff, after our fridge broke down a day prior to Easter weekend. Over the years, Richard has helped us through the process of purchasing several appliances during his days at B&W. It was re-assuring to see him continue his services at Lake Huron Home. We have found him to be very knowledgeable and thorough in making sure that all our requirements are met.
