To the owners response: Thank you for reaching out! I'm so pleased to see all the effort you have put into the place the last few years, it looks great (and super clean)!! I'm glad to see all the great reviews you have as well and I really hope I can make it back out your way soon so I can see it in person and give an updated review. I want to thank you for (hopefully) not taking offense to my review but taking the feedback to heart and doing your best to fix the issues I listed. It takes a truly humble and caring business owner to listen to feedback even when it's harsh and act on it for the betterment of their business as you have done. I look forward to my next visit with you :) and I hope your business is booming all season long
Original review: I'm trying to be kind but our stay was really less than optimal, honestly it was awful and there was nobody around as far as staff. My husband and I very recently spent 2 nights here, in what I believe is called a family room with a kitchenette. The internet was great, high speed with both ethernet cable and wifi connection options. Thats the end of the good things, as the room wasn't what I consider clean or comfortable (there were s h i t stains on the carpet by the couch). I'm thankful I brought cleaning products and air fresheners, it took me about 2hrs to clean and deodorize everything (I couldn't do anything about the beds or carpet). Its very musty, I think it was cleaned a year ago and nobody has stayed so they didn't think to clean it again which was a mistake. I brought my own sheets, blankets and towels which was a good idea, not sure when they were cleaned last and they were all scratchy to the touch. There were an alarming amount of cob webs everywhere, like EVERYWHERE in every room and nook - couldn't even walk to the toilet without a face full of cobwebs when we got there, and on our first night I was attacked by multiple large moths while sleeping. I spent an hour hunting and killing them so I could sleep. On the second night there were some very loud and very strange sounds coming from the room next door, which is alarming because we were the ONLY ones staying in the entire section across the road and it only stopped when we went outside to investigate. When I yelled "hello?" through the window it happened once immediately then stopped entirely and never resumed, it was super effing weird. We went out to investigate because it would get quiet any time we paused our show to listen to what it could be, right until we went to see where it was coming from which made it stop. I did not sleep at all that night, bates motel vibes and all that. Again there was nobody around to ask about that.
We didn't try the stove while we were there cause we were too tired to cook, but the fridge worked great and there's a tiny little freezer section in it to store a few small things in. There was a toaster, small coffee maker, microwave, and a 2 burner hot plate (maybe the stove doesn't work? Idk) and there's a spot outside where you could put a BBQ if you bring one. There was a set of dishes, extra mugs, 2 forks, a few spoons and steak knives as well as some pots and pans, a strainer, a few cooking utensils and some dish soap to wash up. There's no pool, no vending machines, and no ice machine. The mattresses SUCK, and the 14+yr old TV is probably the newest thing in that room. With what this place charges/offers they could have upgraded some of the other furniture and appliances at some point in the last 35yrs. The location is nice though, near downtown and close to the water. If you're staying for a couple nights and just need some place to crash, this would be fine, if you're looking for an extended stay like us I absolutely urge you to look elsewhere. I really hope the owner decides to infuse some cash into this motel - if the carpets, mattresses and linens were replaced it would make a world...
Read moreReviewing on behalf of my friend. He has been staying in the area for work training for the past few weeks, and had stayed here before. He made a reservation, and upon turning up to check in, was told that his room had been given to some random person with the same first name as him. He was advised that there was one available room remaining on the property, and told it was significantly more money nightly. After a back and forth with the staff (including management) they outright refused to give him the more expensive room at the rate he had booked for. This was YOUR mistake, not his, whatsoever, and the lack of common sense in customer service to rectify your own error is appalling. The very simple and obvious solution was to provide the more expensive room at the same price promised, since YOU gave away his original room. Wouldn't recommend anyone stay here. Heaven forbid you have a common first name and staff won't do their job to properly check ID and will simply give your room away to anyone who shares your first name. Where is your customer service? You've lost a return customer, along with all of his colleagues who work and train...
Read moreUnfortunately our stay did not meet our expectations. The price of the room was inflated due to it being a tourist location and a long weekend. $157 for one night. Was unable to get early check in due to cleaning and “COVID-19” when we arrived minimal cleaning was done. 1- top comforter was removed off bed for inspection, multiple yellow stains which smelled of urine. 2-mould spots & musty smell on both (flat/old) pillows 3- microwave knobs had orange food/drink spots as well as dust 4-mattress was very hard and uncomfortable 5- tv was extremely fuzzy and unable to watch
Staff was friendly & exchanged the comforter no problem but when responding to the urine stains she simply said “there wasn’t any children in there before you so I’m not sure what it could be.” Which made it clear they did not replace all the bedding between guest stays. Which is...
