This is the best experience I have ever had buying a pet.
I just adopted a beautiful Shepard mix and he is so well behaved and in great health. Heâs friendly with all people , gets a long well with other animals and listens to his basic commands very well.
The people at Berger Blanc were EXTREMELY kind and helpful and made sure I was selecting the right pet for me.
The first day I went there at 6pm, outside of the adoption hours and the lady at the desk was super nice but explained she was way too busy to show me the dog outside of hours but one of the animal control men Charles, said he had a few minutes and made an exception even though Iâm sure he was on break and could have told me to come back. He recommended I come back again the next day with my small dog to see how they got along.
The next day another guy that goes out on the road to pick up animals and a girl named Kayla spent 45 minutes with me and my dog & this new dog just walking on the grass so we could see the interaction.
It wasnât perfect so they recommended I come back a 3rd day. Marcus agreed to hold the dog just until the next day at lunchtime even though they normally donât do that. When I got back The next day a different guy spent another 30 minutes with me, my little dog and the new dog. Finally I was ready to adopt him.
They were SO careful to not give me a dog that wouldnât be a good fit for me. My past experiences were not like this at all and I felt like the other places couldnât get rid of their dogs fast enough and did not inform . Every single person at this place was SUPER accommodating, kind & very patient. Charles is a miracle worker with animals and made it very easy for me to get to know my new friend. You could see how much they care about placing the animals in the right home. They also gave me lots of advice and guidelines about how to care for him.
Iâm very surprised by the other reviews here. For sure they have their hands full but I felt extremely not rushed, very well accommodated and like all the animals are in good hands.
Keep up the amazing work you guys do everyday. Animals need you â€ïž and thank you for my new...
Read moreThis place is the Montreal Pound. It is a HIGH KILL BUSINESS ! It is NOT a REFUGE OR SHELTER but an ANIMAL CONTROL CENTRE! They are UNDER CONTRACT HIRED BY THE CITY OF MONTREAL TO DEAL with STRAY, ABANDONED & LOST ANIMALS. So they PROFIT FINANCIALLY FROM MANY MUNICIPALITIES INCLUDING MONTREAL TO HANDLE UNWANTED & STRAY ANIMALS . WHILE THEY DO SOME ADOPTIONS they EUTHANIZE MOST CATS & MANY DOGS! They are NOT SIMILAR TO THE SPCA. The SPCA is a HUMANE SOCIETY predicated on ANIMAL WELFARE & their MISSION IS COMBATING ANÄȘMAL CRUELTY. BERGER BLANC has NO HUMANE IDEOLOGICAL UNDERPINNING! They are NOT A HUMANE SHELTER AT ALL!! They are a PROFIT BASED BUSINESS whose only objective is to GET RID OF MUNICIPALITIEÊ»S STRAY & SURPLUS ANIMALS. They do NOT have FOSTER HOMES NOR VET CARE FOR INJURED OR SICK ANIMALS! THEY EUTHANIZE ALL ANIMALS WHO ARE OLDER( above 6 or 7 years old), and all PREGNANT & NURSING MOMS WITH THEIR BABIES. THEY also KILL ALL KITTENS UNDER 8 WEEKS who are NOT WEANED OR ABLE TO SURVIVE WITHOUT THEIR MOTHERS, ETC NEVER EVER BRING ANY ANIMAL TO THEM! MORE THAN 99% of CATS BROUGHT TO THEM ARE KILLED! THE KILL RATE FOR DOGS IS LESS THAN FOR CATS BUT STILL HIGH, 85% are KILLED!!! NEVER EVER BRING AN ANIMAL HERE!! Go here TO ADOPT AN ANIMAL TO GET THEM AWAY FROM THIS...
Read moreIt is disheartening and deeply concerning that organizations such as this one, supported by government funds, operate with such a glaring lack of responsibility and compassion. On multiple occasions, I reached out to the staff, seeking assistance for a lost pet, only to be met with indifference. Specifically, an employee named Keyvan outright refused to search their database for recent records of my cat, suggesting instead that I was to blame for not microchipping my pet. This accusation was made without provocation, and his suggestion to "call back tomorrow" was not only unhelpful but indicative of a broader organizational apathy towards distressed pet owners.
The consistent lack of empathy and professionalism from various employees starkly contrasts with the helpful and proactive service provided by the SPCA. It is unacceptable for a government-funded entity to exhibit such a dismissive attitude towards community members facing the distress of a lost pet. There needs to be a significant reevaluation of the practices at this facility to ensure that it truly serves the needs of both the animals and...
