There are a couple of sites that were created for the 1976 Olympic Games that have not managed to carve a place in the memory of Montrealers. One of them is the little known Olympic Basin. Le Bassin Olympique is a large artificial lake that is still used for rowing competitions. A few joggers and cyclists like to run or cycle along its edges. Visit during the week and you might end up having the place for yourself.

First time coming here for an event. The island was easily accessible, bathrooms were clean and plenty of space. The problem is end if the events, leaving the island is a pain... if driving its crazy traffic as theres only 2 roads out. By metro is where 80% of the guests would go so its a huge bottle neck.

I returned to the Olympic Basin after several years away from paddling. The indoor facilities have gotten a great uplift wrt the look of the training areas, the now window walled training rooms and we'll overhauled locker/shower/bathroom. The cafeteria also looks well improved also. The outdoor seating for the cafeteria be benefits from some shaded area for comfortable sitting. Though there could be a little more shaded areas along the race course, with added greenery ... a lot of cement. Note that parking price is steep : $27. If you're to spend a lot of your day on the water (rowing or paddling), it's a good...

Parking P2 at the Olympic basin is easily one of the most expensive in Montreal; and for a sport facility where many people show up for exercise, this is plainly a crash grab, plain & simple. There is no rational for such exorbitant pricing. The facilities of Quartier du Athletes is limited (gym facility is small & limited in equipment), essentially you have to pay a lot of very little service. It's not busy during weekdays (nothing to do there), good place to jog, or rollerblade/ cycle around the outdoor Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in...

To the administrators of the basin: Everyone can understand the Covid 19 restrictions for the dragon boats....however, for users of small boats ( Kayaks, canoes, outriggers, rowing) the question of social distancing and respecting its rule are almost part & parcel of the sport. We use lanes...we are never less than 10 meters apart...we bring our boats to the water edge, we train, we put our boats back in our OWN spot in the hangar....Then why not only a refusal bu receiving no encouragement...
