The urban sugar shack (cabane à sucre urbaine) brunch was very disappointing. Bland food, missing key items like ham and bacon, the terrible coleslaw was mostly wilted iceberg, my tea cup was dirty, dirty bathroom. Pickled beets from a can that they told me they recycle in other recipes after if we don't finish them (super unhygienic!). Overpriced ($58 after tax and tip). I left with terrible heartburn even though I didn't even eat that much. Of course if you're willing to drive to the country you'll find much better sugar shacks, but Montreal and its tourists also deserve so...
Read moreWent there for the first day of their 6 weeks of Cabane a Sucre offering. It's all you can eat so the food offering is generous. Some of the food is good, some of it is so-so. You certainly do not get the selection that you get in the rural operations. But the main thing is that the food was barely warm, certainly well below the 60°C mandated by law. And the people serving the food were not wearing hair nets. It is not cheap, $48 for adults, $24 for kids. I was expecting more. If you absolutely cannot get to a real cabane, I guess this one will do....
