Victoria Golf Club — Local services in Oak Bay

We held a conflict resolution workshop at the facility on October 17, 2017. The staff were excellent and the event manager, Christine Bryne, was terrific. This was my first full day event and her advice was excellent. I was a little reluctant about her menu recommendations, but she was spot on. She recommended the salmon which was very popular. There was a little bit too much noise from the kitchen early on in the day. Staff shouting could be clearly heard during the presentation. I spoke to the staff about it and it did improve. I have used a number of venues in Victoria for various sized events including the Union Club, the Marriot, and the Faculty Club. I prefered the food at VGC and the staff were wonderful. The free parking was a determinative factor in choosing this venue. I would recommend the facility for small groups and professional presentations. It was excellent...

Attended a banquet this evening. A costly meal with expectations considering the venue. I can’t begin to express how disappointing it was: Main course (arrived cold) served to some people but not others. 20 minutes wait to serve the rest of the people; bread and butter forgotten; then poorly trained staff realized they forgot to serve the appetizers so they placed them at the table when some were served dessert, some still waiting for the main course ; dessert was a choice but staff decided to distribute without asking guests. Then guests were told to give staff extra money if they wanted the service to continue for coffee, etc. Dispute amongst staff and issues of disgruntled staff were witnessed by banquet guests! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’ve been a full member here since 2012 and it has truly become a second home for me. The course is always kept in excellent condition, the clubhouse has a warm welcoming atmosphere, the staff go above and beyond for members and guests. Kids love it here too. Over the years our family has built lasting family friendships and have always felt part of a supportive local community. I’m now serving on a membership’ committee, which has given me even more appreciation for how much care and effort goes into making this club special for all.
