I arrived at Windsor Park a bit too early for the Oak Bay Tea Party parade (my children are performing in the Spectrum marching band) and this place opened up early for this occasion. I was greeted by a gentleman (presuming Jay) who kindly explained the early opening so decided to come in to shelter myself from the wind & drizzling rain.
The food was good; came fast so technically one can quickly eat and go if they're on a time pinch. That is usually me but today I decide to take it slow to absorb the jazz music and the ambiance. Listening to Unforgettable & Just the Two of Us kinda made me think this would've been a good place to bring my former boyfriend (the person with me in my reviews all these years until recently) but his loss.
Anyway the sun mysterious shone momentarily as I am ready to get ready to watch the parade. I appreciate this place getting me the glass of water and allowing me to have an entire room to relax and enjoy my meal. I'll make sure to bring my performing daughters here on my next visit. My only suggestion to the cafe is update the social media more as it has outdated information and perhaps use some furniture felt to balance some of the table feet that has cardboard and folded paper underneath them. 😂
Also to the one person who left the awful review saying Cheese Whiz was used for the ingredient, you need to get your olfactory bulb and eyes checked. It is beyond obvious cheddar cheese 🧀 the ingredient used in the menu. Just look at my wrap; it's obvious standard, medium sharpness flavor.
(For those who need nitty-gritty details, food is 4.5, hospitality/service 5, ambiance 5, decor 4.5; overall score is...
Read moreI thought this place was going to be worth it for the price but for what we got -a small sandwich for 17 dollars?? It’s crazy that a simple sandwich costs that much. It wasn’t anything from another world or worth to pay 17 dollars plus tax it seemed too expensive. We tried the sausage roll which was really good and a cheese sausage roll which honestly tasted like any other generic one ( it tasted like it wasn’t house made ). Our server spilled some coffee while setting it down in the table but she didn’t bother apologizing or cleaning it up or even acknowledging it. The service at the counter while ordering your food wasn’t good either. The patio is pretty and nice on sunny days but I don’t think I would ever go back again. I hope that they either lower the price of the sandwich...
Read moreThe perfect light meal for a hot summer day: a chilled Perrier coupled with an amazing Pear & Goat Cheese Salad. Although the cafe was busy (and one staffperson away due to an unexpected circumstance), Quinn ably juggled everything and made us feel completely welcome and relaxed. My party and I were delighted with the friendly, airy café environment and the always-delicious offerings. My friend said his Chai Latté was the best he'd ever tasted, and he's a fussy man. Wonderful experience. P.S. Updated to recommend that you ALWAYS phone the cafe to confirm it’s open. It was closed 2 days this week (June 19-20) and there were several would-be customers waiting in front — as I was — to meet up with a friend. They did note this on their answering machine, so my bad for not checking...
