As far as small neighborhood malls go this one is pretty good :) It has a bit of everything. A service Canada outlet, The Canadian Hearing Society, Marlin Travel Agency, A Food Basics with pharmacy, Play it again sports and a Body Nutrition with yummy shakes, Dollarama and dollar store. The Ardene's warehouse outlet is awesome. Haki's Fashion sells shoes, clothes, and decorative items at a fair price, an Ink Well refill place that offers fax service. I had my Children's Birthday Party at the Putt n Blast. It was great :) At the time they were in the middle of expanding so it should be bigger and better by now :) The staff at Marrello Hairstylists are awesome. They did an amazing job on my daughters hair and are very personable. If you want something a bit more upscale there is also Avanta Salon and Spa. There is also the Beauty Academy of Kingston whom, at least once a year, holds a charity event in the mall. I personally had my hair done at the event and was pleasantly surprised by the talent :) I have always found the staff at The Hock Shop to be fair, informative and helpful. It is a smaller store but you'd be surprised by the variety of items they sell. It's a hit and miss with LW (Liquidation World) sometimes. They have many items for fair prices and sometimes it's reg retail price. The furniture there is nice, yet some is overpriced, imo. The mattress prices are very competitive though. The Value Village is one of the larger ones that i have been to. The staff is nice and helpful and the store is neat and organized. The Chit Chat Cafe is great. Being the only store within the mall that sells food and beverage they are fast and the staff is great. You also have a choice of Harvey's, Sakura Japanese restaurant and a Swiss Chalet outside of the mall. I have only been to Harveys and the food and service was great. Now I saved the best for last FACTORY DIRECT is an awesome store. They sell everything from bubble gum to iphones and everything in-between. The staff is polite and helpful, the store is neat and organized and the prices are great. This mall is definitely a diamond...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis in door mall is slowly dying and has been for some time. It doesn't have the size or the attraction that the Cataraqui mall has. However it does earn a bit of points for the stores it does have. Like Monster Gamez. If you are a heavy retro gamer this is one of the best places to find gold. You can find pretty much anything you need for your retro console and they have one of the largest and unique collection of games. I really shouldn't be spreading this information around since I recently started playing super Nintendo games again and often look for games there myself. The mall also has Putt'n Blast a basement floor converted into a laser tag arena and mini golf course. A great place to take kids to waste some time and entertain. If you want food and a light meal then it's off to the Chit Chat cafe. It's nothing fancy and some of the food can easily be made at home but it's also some of the freshest ingredients. The soup is often excellent and changed daily or often. The Hock shop found just down from these places often has the best selection and prices in gaming and electronics. It's fairly easy to find what you are looking for there. They also carry a good selection of musical instruments if you are a beginner it's a great place to get what you need at a reduced price. It's the best place to go for consoles. Most of the consoles are packed with everything you need to get playing and are often supplied with 2 controllers not just 1. The contents are neatly printed on the outside of the box they come in so you know what you should be getting. The mall is equipped with many sitting areas and garbage bins and is also accessible for people with disabilities. It also has an excellent Asian and Harvey's restaurant located in the parking lot if you feel like having a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been here a bunch of times, and the owners are amazing people who cook awesome food... and those baked goods? O. M. G. The woman running Chit Chat is adorable and funny, so welcoming and always has her best service face on!
But this place is ruined by one staff member who I always have an issue with - service, food, and attitude... and I've had so many run ins now that I am writing a new review OF THIS STAFF MEMBER.
The blonde hostess.
This visit was as miserable as always and was stumbling around on a limp. I approached and she limped away. I waited and dinged the bell three times, she came back. She sighed and gave me that "I'm sick of my life, I hate working here, you're not welcome" sideways glare. Totally different atmosphere than any other staff.
I ordered two grilled cheese (SERIOUSLY, a top item here!) and a soup. I hadn't finished order when she walked away, but she came back. I paid, and she left to the back. A couple minutes later she shoved a grilled cheese on the counter that was black and burnt, then said "have a good day."
I was stunned, so was my friend whom I'd brought... unfortunately she will never be returning even though I promised this service is only this girl's doing.
I asked about the other sandwich and the soup and she rolled her eyes, limped over and said "Well I only heard grilled cheese".
We left, I wasn't having another one of these experiences with her... like I said, not my first. So, we sit down to split a grilled cheese and she starts cleaning around and staring us down.
I became so paranoid by her stares and dirty looks that I didn't eat my burnt sandwich... worried she may have spat...
