Metro — Local services in Ottawa

I used to love Metro. They have fresh fruits and vegetables which we love. It’s a bit pricey compared to other stores. But we’d love to consider because it’s near to our place, quality products and store is properly organized.

Reasons why I rate 1 star *CUSTOMER SERVICE if I could have put 0, I will. Totally no proper training for customer service. They don’t know how to approach nicely. Very rude and shouldn’t be curious on what business people are doing why they went to shop there. We commonly buy most of our household needs there, but I will not shop here anymore for our needs. Only the cashier wearing hijab and the big guy are nice there. Others who works there doesn’t care to help and unbothered, especially the lady with short hair(maybe a manager) and the lady wearing hijab in bakery section, and those guys working in meat section. Feel sorry for you guys, seems like you don’t like your job, but you need to. Management: You can do better.

Plus. Please, clean and sanitize the restroom.

Better shop Farmboy or...

I purchased a cake blind box through the blind box option at Metro, but when I opened it, I found that the cake was moldy. We went to Metro's service desk to report the issue. Initially, a male staff member simply told us that we could only request a refund through the blind box app platform, and there was nothing they could do. We questioned whether the cakes were made and provided by Metro, and they admitted they were. We then asked if food safety was Metro's responsibility, and he went silent. Later, a service manager came, but she gave us the same response, saying they didn’t have an equivalent replacement cake and that we should request a refund through the app platform.

I was extremely angry because this Metro location clearly doesn’t take food safety seriously. What if my child had eaten the spoiled strawberry cake without noticing it was bad? What would have happened then? I will never shop at this...
