My husband and I made an effort to go to this shop instead of our local supermarket. We thought that the fruits & veggies would be better since the sign outside makes it clear that they sell fruit. You would think since it's the ONLY thing they sell, that they would have good products.
We were very disappointed. As we were trying to enter the one door to get into the shop, there were two workers pushing grocery carts out of the same door. There was no way to get in. Neither of the workers even acknowledged our presence there. It was like we didn't exist.
When they finished getting the grocery carts out of the one door, we could finally walk in. There were flies everywhere - flying into my face, etc.
The inside of the store smells rotten - which makes sense, since there were flies everywhere. The only reason for large flies like that is because there are maggots. I also found it weird that all of the lights were off - or it was just dark in there.
Don't get me wrong - I'm okay with over-ripe fruit and veggies when I cook for myself. But, this was different. All of the produce, even the ones on display, were rotting. Skin falling off, flesh exposed to the flies that were in there, etc.
There were boxes of fruit/veggies piled up almost to the ceiling, some of which were leaning against an old TV mounted on the wall.
I'm surprised they are in business. Has anybody called food/health inspections yet?
It was just an overall...
Read moreFor me, this is a new fruit and vegetable store. The main draw is really the absolutely amazing prices. It is an independent small store. Most items were at prices less than half of other places. The owner was very friendly and accommodating of any requests while offering extra deals. He had some special items hard to find like sour plums and these were priced very reasonably. Given the sticker shock I have been finding in many places, I was so happy to find this place with so many good items at extremely affordable prices. I saw the few negative reviews and do not know how many come from competitors. I also know that at any time you go into fruit and vegetable stores there may be an item that is past its prime, however, I found the vast majority of the items were fresh. I do not hesitate to recommend this place to people who want to eat a little healthier and need to find a place that makes...
Read moreIt is so Great to have a local product store within a short walk from my home. The problem with the place is that only about half of the items have the prices marked on them. This is a big problem and is losing the owners a lot of business. I can't count how many times I have gone inside and not purchased items because I have no idea how much it costs and just walked out and went elsewhere. If I would like to buy some apples I have not idea if it's going cost me $1 or $100. I need to stand in line at the cash to ask the cashier after waiting 5 minutes just so I can decide if I want to buy 2 apples or 6 apples. Very basic stuff, Not sure why it is so hard for the owners to realize how much money they are losing in sales. It makes it very hard for me to spend my money in this store. In general I will never buy anything before I know what the price I am paying is...
