TLDR: DO NOT RECOMMEND IF UNEXPERIENCED. BRUSH OVER SAFETY AND INSTRUCTIONS 2 out 9 of our group was injured! The travel is nose-to-tail. CANNOT HANDLE LARGE GROUPS.
I had always wanted to go horseback riding and decided to try it for the first time with this company. Myself and 8 other friends went back in July and I can say I am traumatized and will never go back on a horse again!
They are kidding you with the safety guidelines. Prior to booking, we had explained that none of us have ever ridden a horse. Even with this explicitly communicated multiple times at booking and before riding, we were told helmets were optional! We were a large group
We spent but 2 minutes on instructions with the horses. How to steer the horse left and right and the "oh sh*t" handle. The horses were hungry and mine in particular was incredibly difficult no matter how much I pulled its reign to stop eating whatever it came across. At one point in our journey, we ended up in a trough of water that was easily 4 ft deep. One of the horses almost buckled, got nervous and threw off one of our friends into the water. The "instructor" didn't even bother to help our friend get back onto the horse until after we told him!!
A few minutes before we arrived at the stable, my horse decided to completely ignore my commands to stop (pulling on the reign) and instead sped up. I realized that I was either going to get chucked off or would have to throw myself off which I somehow managed to do. I permanently scarred my arm and later went to the hospital.
Only one of the employees tried to help by offering some anti-septic.
We are lucky that are injuries weren't severe or didn't leave us with...
Read moreMy sisters and I chose this location for the scenery and the reviews. The team members are pretty nice to talk to, though on the phone for the booking the person sounded a little rude. As riders with little to no experience, I was disappointed we were assigned only 1 guide for a group of 4, I myself was a first time rider and I was not comfortable. When we arrived we asked to pay first but weâre asked to wait the end. We did not get informed about the duration which at our surprise was 2 hours. I would have appreciate having the choice according to my budget to decide for 1h ou 2h lesson. Payment is only cash or Interac. What if I am not prepared for o2h bill? We felt it was forced on us. Also my horse was very difficult to manage as it kept going on the grasse, then putting under trees and in bushes where I was scratched. I was doing my best to follow and half way through I was informed that they had to remove her leg iron because she didnât like it so she is avoiding any rough surfaces ! Great experience but wonât go back to...
Read moreUnfortunately I didnât have a good experience. We had a small group of 3 people, myself and one couple with a guide and trainee. Partway through the trail we diverted to avoid an incoming group of riders. After that the guide went to a trot through a windy section and the trainee and myself got separated. The trainee asked to pause since she wasnât sure if we went off trail and wasnât familiar w the route. She didnât have her phone/know the guideâs number so I called the main line and they told me to let my horse take us home.
Eventually we met back up with the group but the guideâs response was âmaybe you should kick your horse harderâ. There was only 3 of us and she didnât catch my name or have any dialogue with me really. She took a picture of the couple on their honeymoon and I wouldâve appreciated a picture on my horse as well but didnât get one. The ride itself was gorgeous and Honey the horse was very sweet but I did feel like I paid good money to bandwagon on someone...
