Updated, no longer 5 star.. my latest experience has been a nightmare. I was given a homedepot gift card for my Birthday. I decided to use it to get a new dremel and accessories kit. Total came up $33 over the gift card amount. So, I used my debit card as well to cover the balance.
I ordered online on Monday (family day in Ontario) and aimed to pick up at the store this morning. Last night, I received an email indicating there was an issue using the gift card. I took a look at my bank, and they had gone and double billed $33. This was my first red flag (it gets worse). So I attempted to call the gift card line, was told that the card had the funds on it, and there was nothing more their department could do.
So this morning, I took a look, and the total charges of $66 had been refunded. I went to the store for other items. While there, I get an email stating my order is ready for pickup (woot it worked out! At least that's what I thought)
I head to customer service to pick my order up. The woman at the counter pulls up the order on her system. Mumbles something about glitch with gift card then goes gets the item. Hands me the packing slip and item and I am off (thinking "Yay I got my item and it all worked out") only to find out the teller decided to remove the gift card as payment and just billed my bank account.
I head back to the store. To be accused of attempting to defraud them. I explain to multiple associates what has happened. Not a single person owns the issue. They all pass it off as another department problem. I speak with the associate I dealt with and ask why she didn't just cancel the order. If there was a problem with the gift card, why didn't she say anything to me at all? Why, without permission, she put the full amount through my bank account. Her excuse was to say she didn't do it, and if I have a problem, I will have to call the gift card help line.
I am now in queue with their payments team. 5 to 7 business days before they do anything. I am taking the item back and returning it. I will go spend my...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am very, very disappointed, frustrated and annoyed at the customer service I received from the supervisor/manager of the lighting department today when trying to purchase ceiling fans. I chose this particular ceiling fan since there was a sign indicating that it was a Home Depot Special Deal for $159 each from the regular price of $229 so I chose to pick up 3 of them for my 3 bedrooms. I must add that I have made many numerous purchases at Home Depot lately since I have been doing major renovations to my home and thus spent a considerable amount of money thus far. However, upon trying to check out with my 3 ceiling fans, the price at checkout was still the original $229. When I mentioned the sign for the sale, the supervisor/manager said that he would have to check it out and see if there was an expiry date. There was NO such date just the HOME DEPOT SPECIAL DEAL of $159 each. He said that was an old sign and that the sale was for last month in June. He then said that he could not honor that price on all 3 fans, just one of them. I would have to buy the other 2 at regular price. That in my opinion is just wrong!!! He should have been able to override it and give me the sale price on all 3 fans but he refused, even though I did mention that I have spent a lot of money at Home Depot lately for my renovations. But that did not matter at all. I am a very disappointed and frustrated customer and I believe that a store like Home Depot should have better customer...
