I'm from Thunder Bay, & a First Nation person. I was on my first & probably my last family vacation. This is my first time in Sault St Marie, so we decided to camp at the KOA campsite on the edge of town. My children & I went to Walmart at 446 Great Northern Rd, we purchased a lot of merchandise from there, and upon proceeding to go checkout, in the #14 checkout line up, this older female cashier, started ringing up our stuff, and in doing so my daughter was noticing she was rudely handling our food & supplies, I came to the checkout just as they were finishing up. The cashier kept looking at us, like we did something wrong. My daughter told me loudly that she was being racist towards us, but I usually don't acknowledge this kind of foul attitude but this cashier was noticeably being hateful . I hurried to pack our stuff to leave, and mistakenly grabbed the bag of other person who was behind us. And she rudely stopped me from touching their bag. I began to get upset myself but I apologized for my mistake, and turned to leave. She cashier immediately started talking to the customer about us & I knew this because they both turned & looked at us. She started telling the next customers, which was really making me upset by this time. She then told my daughter we didn't understand the stress of a cashier & we probably don't know that because we probably never had a job. My son seen my demeanor and went to complain. They told him that's not the first complaint they received about her. Why she's still working in public relations is beyond me. But I will never recommend this Walmart to any friends or family of mine. I should've never gave them my money & just walked out. She should be ashamed of herself! She's old enough to know better. Where's the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Walmart today (March 9, 2025) around 2:20 PM at the self-checkout counter. After scanning all my items, an associate named Pooja approached our counter and claimed that we hadnāt scanned a couple of items, specifically a cooking pot and a carry bag. She was using her Walmart device, which allows her to check the scanned items, and I explained that both items had indeed been scanned. I even pointed out that the potās price of $34 was visible on the screen. She then acknowledged, "Oh yeah, I see that." This interaction made me feel like I was being treated as a shoplifter, which was both uncomfortable and disrespectful.
To make matters worse, I noticed a pricing discrepancy with the cooking pot. The shelf price was clearly labeled as $19.99, with a description identical to the product I had scanned. However, the system charged $34.99. I took a photo of the shelf price and showed it to the associate, who then called her manager. When the manager arrived, he checked the shelf and insisted that the price was $34.99, referencing a different section of the display. Despite my explanation that I had picked up the item from the $19.99 section and that the product descriptions matched, he refused to honor the displayed price and said I had to pay $34.99.
This entire experience was incredibly awkward and frustrating. The behavior of both the associate and the manager was unacceptable ā it felt like they didnāt trust the customer at all. If Walmart has so little faith in its customers, perhaps they should reconsider having self-checkout.
This was a very disappointing and disrespectful experience, and I hope Walmart addresses these...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have a disabled child which means I depend on the Caroline Cart to shop with my child. This store had ONE Caroline Cart and 90% of the time we would have to search the entire parking lot for the ONE cart they have before even going shopping thus turning a 30 minute trip into an hour long or more fiasco. Well it got even worse because the person/people responsible for plowing the parking lot literally plowed the only special needs cart this store has into a snow bank and bent it all to hell. Now the store has ZERO Caroline Carts which means I actually can't go here to shop anymore. If I wasn't a single mom with a disabled kid living in poverty I'd sue this store for discrimination against the disabled. Also, you'd think with the increase of customers choosing to pick up their orders instead of coming in, it would be LESS crowded in the store. However, the employees who do the shopping for the pickup orders are TERRIBLE about blocking aisles with their huge carts or just standing in the way while they text on their phones. And lastly, the amount of items out of stock at this store is mind boggling. I've wondered how a half empty Walmart even stays open more than once and the produce section is just awful! Even if they do have produce in stock, it'll probably be...
