MOD on Main — Local services in Vancouver

I was very disappointed by my experience, considering the good reviews of others. I get my hair cut and coloured ever 2-3 months and unfortunately my usual stylist was not available. So I had booked a root bleach, foils and a cut at this salon for the first time.

My stylist was terrible. Her fake nails constantly jabbed painfully into my scalp during the washes and blow drying. She did not handle my hair gently while brushing, instead just using the comb through tangled hair. I had so much breakage and hair loss just from her brushing.

I ended up leaving while my hair was still wet and skipping the cut. I do not recommend this stylist. Perhaps the others are better.

Two stars because they were willing to order my particular hair colour product in for me.

Edit: Two weeks later, you can clearly see the border of my roots before and after she coloured. It does not blend all the way at all, there is black between the two...

I went to MOD Salon in a desperate search for someone who could fix the uneven, "unfinished" cut and colour I'd got from another salon DIANA WORKED MIRACLES!!! She has an excellent eye for colour and precision cutting and I would absolutely recommend her services, especially if your hair is tricky to deal with. Diana is a true, creative hair professional.

I'd called the salon in a panic on a Saturday, and thankfully Diana had an appointment for the next morning. She even came in half an hour to have more time to do the service. She consulted with me all throughout the process and was very kind & understanding of the fact that I was nervous to have my hair touched again.

I still can hardly believe she managed to reshape and recolour what was a brassy, choppy "Karen" cut into a neutral brown textured bob that actually left me feeling more like "me".

I had to hold back tears while in the chair because of how bad my haircut looked. The wash was incredibly painful on my neck, and was far from relaxing. I felt like my stylist didn’t listen to what I wanted except for the fringe (I had a reference photo). There was minimal consultation before we kicked off and no check-in as we proceeded. The cut is so bad I wore my hair in a bun on the way home and plan to do so or hide it under a hat for the next 3 months until it grows out a little more and I can get it fixed at a salon with better talent. The stylist did offer for me to come back in a week to “fix” it, but how can I trust her? My hair was even damp after the blow-dry despite booking extra time for thick hair.
