Your typical coffee shop with some limitations that prevents you from taking your precious time with your coffee. I understood from the signs in the front of the store that there is a one hour seating limit. There were also other signs posted throughout the store stating no Wi-fi between hours of 10am to 6pm on weekends and holidays to mitigate people from overextending their stay during peak-business hours. I was well aware of all these limitations before making a purchase and seating myself to work for the one hour time limit.
What I didn't appreciate was why a staff member approached our table, and only our table, to remind us that we had to leave in 20 minutes after being seated for only 30 minutes with our beverages. I might want to add that there were many tables throughout the café that were there before us and did not receive a friendly reminder.
I have visited many coffee shops along main street such as JJ bean, Café Mira, Parallel 49th, and Forecast, to name a few, and have had a much better customer service and overall experience.
I hope this review serves as a warning to those that do not want to receive a friendly warning and want to study or work undisturbed for an hour per their own policy.
Edit: In response to the owner, whom clearly missed out on the points of my review, there was a lady with headphones who sat with a tablet before us and were not approached by the friendly staff. And you contradicted yourself by saying that your staff generally don't ask people to leave, but yet your staff did so at the 30 minute mark of our alarm. Has the owner been to the libraries in our city during peak midterm season? Good luck...
Read moreI was really impressed by my first visit here! Lots of seating available inside and a few tables outside. Nice atmosphere/aesthetic and lots of seating, but some of the seating is a little tight, and it was also pretty boomy inside. The staff was friendly. All of their baked goods looked fantastic! All of the food is housemade, including the bakes. There are good options for vegans here: a sandwich and a wrap and a few baked goods (muffin and cookie, maybe there were others but I didn't get as good of a look). I noticed that they had "gluten-friendly" muffins, but they were in the same case as non-gf baked goods, touching, so not very helpful if you have a serious issue with gluten like celiac. Drink menu also had some fun seasonal stuff in addition to the standards. I got the vegan chickpea smash wrap, a fleur de sel brownie, and a crimson iced tea. The chickpea wrap was sort of like a vegan breakfast wrap, but kind of also just doing its own thing. It had memorable flavours, different from other vegan wraps at coffee shops. I especially loved their vegan ricotta in the wrap! The brownie was as good as it looked - very dense and fudgy. The salt was added tastefully and enhanced the chocolate. I was indifferent on the iced tea, but that's just because I don't like hibiscus very much (I was expecting "crimson iced tea" to mean rooibos, but it was actually hibiscus), so I'll have to try something else to be able to make a fair judgement on their drinks. The total for food was about $21 which I think is fair. The quality was pretty high across the board. The wrap was a modest size but it was enough for...
Read moreI’m a coffee drinker who’s particular about my beans, and I’m always on the lookout for a good organic option. After running low on beans, I decided to check out Foglifter today—and I’m so glad I did! I picked up a bag of the Colombia Nariño Alianza, and brewed a long black with my La Marzocco. It was super smooth, with low acidity and a light sweetness that made it incredibly enjoyable. The beans were fresh, and the flavor was well-balanced—just what I look for in a good organic coffee. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They offered to grind the beans for me, but I declined since I have my own grinder. Still, I appreciated the thoughtful gesture. The shop had a relaxed and cozy vibe, making it the perfect place to unwind or grab beans to go. I also tried a few of their pastries. The butter croissant was decent—crispy on the outside, moist without being greasy, and balanced with just the right amount of butter. The blueberry-raspberry scone was a bit dry and not very sweet, but I actually liked that—it had a more subtle flavor, which is a plus if you're not into overly sugary pastries. The carrot cake, which has received a lot of positive reviews, was unfortunately way too sweet for me. The texture was great, but I could only manage one bite. If they could dial down the sweetness a bit, I think it would be perfect! I’ll definitely be back to try more of their beans. If you're particular about your coffee like I am and appreciate a good organic option (plus some tasty pastries to go with it), Foglifter is definitely worth...
