Today my fiance and I were browsing stores as he had an idea of ring style/ design but was shopping around. We made this evident to all stores and up until Michael Hill it was going well. The woman Steph whom helped us, on several occasions spoke over us, and interrupted us (she did apologize) but it continued more than once. Because we were looking at a couple rings narrowed down to the Tungsten (Black Ring) and a White Gold and Black one. I mistakenly said I believe he likes the silver presenting one and she corrected me in a harsh matter of fact tone telling me it was White gold. Several minutes I turned to fiance and said do you prefer the mix of silver and black or all black and she interrupted us personally speaking to say"its white gold" and added in that's what makes it expensive. We did like the rings but were on the fence, so she took the 2 we liked saying this is around 200 and this 500. Comes back and says the 500 was actually 800 range and once again when I was confirming it was two tone before I could say she's says WHITE GOLD and black. My fiance and I were quite taken back by now and unfortunately they lost the sale as we went with a competitor. We both come from sales and totally understand the concept of commission, but today felt very aggressive and rude. Asides from today's interaction I've shopped here in the past and never...
Read moreMy friend purchased a necklace for me as a gift from the Fairview store. When I received it, I noticed that the last loop was faulty. It’s not immediately obvious, but it’s clear that the issue was due to a manufacturing defect rather than any damage caused after purchase.
Since we were closer to the Conestoga location, we went there to request a refund. Unfortunately, the staff member we spoke with repeatedly insisted that the necklace may have been damaged by us and said she couldn’t offer a refund. She also stated that even if the return was within 30 days, she couldn’t accept a “worn” item — even though we explained the fault was not due to wear.
She continued to refer to store policies and kept telling us we should read the terms, but when asked, she was unable to show us where this specific policy was listed on the website. She also mentioned that she couldn’t vouch for the condition of the necklace and wasn’t sure who might have caused the damage, implying it could have been us.
This was frustrating and disappointing, especially since I had previously lost another Michael Hill necklace, which I now strongly suspect was also faulty and came loose without me noticing. These experiences have left me very hesitant to shop at...
Read moreMy husband purchased a necklace and earings for me for our 5th anniversary. Unfortunately I did not like either. He was told at the time of purchase that he would be unable to return earings. By the time I got back to return the necklace, the policy had changed and we would have been able to return the earings had he purchased them one week later. (??? They changed the policy)However, I was 6 days past the "30 day return policy" that was never discussed with my husband when he bought them. Now I own a pair of earings and necklace I have no use for and they will not bend the policy for 6 days late. I will never be back and would not recommend this place. Jewelry is far too expensive for this kind of policy.
Update: so after MHJ asked me to contact them so it looks like they would help me, all they did was reiterate the policy of 30 days which was the problem to begin with. If anyone would like to buy my set, I would be happy to sell it to you for less than I paid for it. It is still in the original packaging and has...
