Overall Review: 2.5/5 (I have to round up to 3 for the system though)
Most of the things I ordered were cold by the time I got them which makes sense when you’re using UberEats, but with pancakes warmth tends to be pretty important to the overall eating experience. I also asked for utensils and did not receive them. It was fine because I was able to borrow some from a friend but that is not the most ideal if I was in a situation where I didn’t have access to utensils especially given how messy syrup can get. I don’t think I’ll be ordering again unless a new interesting dish is brought to my attention, however I would not go so far as to dissuade others from ordering from here. Just maybe don’t order over UberEats regardless of whether or not they’re offering a freebie.
Item 1: Buffalo Chicken Fingers (with fries) Rating: 2/5 Price: $15.99 (UberEats)
The fries were amazing. If not for the fact they were just barely above room temperature, I’d probably say they are among my top 5 favourite fries. The chicken, however, left a lot to be desired. Small portions, I didn’t particularly enjoy the sauce and just like the fries, they were not very warm either. For the price, I would not recommend ordering this dish at all. The fries on their own, however, are something I would consider eating again.
Item 2: Chocolate Brownie Caramel Pancakes Rating: 3/5 Price: $14.99 (UberEats)
Just a bit more than what you’d expect from a chocolate chip pancake. Without syrup, it’s a little dry and the outsides of the pancake are nothing special. When you get to the center, however, the brownie part of the pancake really shines through. The syrup is a must add. The pancake takes very well to syrup. When the center absorbs it, the brownie flavour becomes almost what you’d expect from a lava cake (minus the warm part as just like the chicken fingers, it did not really hold its warmth). For the price, I would not recommend this dish, however I do not regret ordering it in the same way I do regarding the chicken fingers.
Item 3: Single Birthday Cake Pancake Rating: 4/5 Price: Normally $5.49 (UberEats), Received as a promotion for free (UberEats)
Disclaimer: Since I got this pancake for free on an uber eats promotion I don’t necessarily have the same capability of regretting my choice in the way I could (and somewhat did) regret ordering the other two.
This pancake was just like a regular pancake but more sweet. It wasn’t anything particularly special, but I can see how it could be fun for someone to eat on their birthday if they really like pancakes or don’t like regular cakes. The appeal is there, but it didn’t do anything for me specifically. For the price, I would not recommend ordering this dish. As a fun little freebie, it is cute and tasty. Definitely a nice little treat to add to my order.
Final Note: To get a more well rounded opinion, I'd ideally like to come in person and order the same dishes to compare prices as well as how all the food tastes fresh out of the oven. While I do not currently have the time, nor finances, it is something I am considering...
Read moreToday was my second time dining there and I was really hoping it would be a better experience but it wasn’t. I have celiac disease and this location is being praised on local Facebook groups as being knowledgeable with cross contact and being safe for people with Celiac disease. This has not been my experience. I usually get something savoury that I can’t make at home and a lot of times that’s eggs Benedict. Obviously I can’t have the English muffin so I asked for GF bread but they can’t safely toast it because according to the servers on both occasions they don’t have a dedicated toaster. GF bread usually tastes like stale cardboard unless you toast it but not having other options, this is what I got and it was cold as well because it is usually frozen. So I had cold cardboard for which I paid extra because everything GF is extra as you quickly get to know once faced with this diagnosis. Now, I don’t know anything about restaurant equipment and what the rules and regulations are but them actually getting a teeny tiny toaster that’s dedicated for GF bread only would’ve made this experience quite a bit better. Next there were the hash browns which I confirmed on both occasions I can’t have because they’re fried in a shared fryer. I did get charged the full price for my order and then extra for the GF bread. Lastly, I was feeling wild today and asked about pancakes which is the main dish the celiac community mentioned that this place gets right. I was told that it’s a shared griddle so then I asked if it would be possible to have it cleaned before they prepare the pancakes so I can have some and I was told again that it’s shared and nothing else so I gave up. I went in at 1200 on a Thursday and I can appreciate that it might’ve been one of their busiest times, I really don’t know. I understand that it’s hard to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies but the server was rushed, annoyed and didn’t care to give me a bit of time and humanity. Would have appreciated her asking the kitchen if griddle can be cleaned (wouldn’t have been upset by a no answer) or telling me that I should try coming in at a different time on certain days and then they can accommodate. When it came time to pay she did have time to chat about how my day was and what plans my son and I had which was just annoying. Yes, I tipped because I think you should’d eat out if you aren’t tipping and working in the service industry can’t be easy but the chat felt forced and I didn’t care for it after all the other interactions. Also, my poached eggs were hard boiled and at that point I just wanted to cry. I will not be back which is a shame because my son who doesn’t have dietary restrictions does like the food. And the flavours were good and service was fast so that’s why...
Read moreThis place is always a great experience for me. I am always pleasantly greeted. Generally the wait time is nil, and you can go on their website to view the wait times and join a waitlist if necessary. The layout is typical for a breakfast or lunch restaurant. The menu is quite diverse and gives you the classics as well as a few alternatives that you can try. Something that I think stood out from me was that they have an in-house made strawberry jam that you can actually buy off the menu in bottles. However, they do serve their signature strawberry jam with toast. The workers are efficient and friendly, but not to the point that they infringe on your breakfast time. The crowd of this place is generally quite reserved and it's a good place to just sit and enjoy a meal without too many distractions. The taste of the food has always been really good for me, so that's something. I like the consistency of well-made meals and they generally use quite fresh ingredients so that you can tell you're getting good value for your money and healthy produce making the food.
Something I also really like is that between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. you can actually get the express breakfast for $6.99. I think that's an amazing deal because you get two eggs along with homestyle potatoes and tree slices of bacon with two slices of bread on the side.
Overall, I think this place is very well kept and has a nice atmosphere with consistently great tasting food. It's definitely an outstanding value if you go before 9:00 a.m. and utilize the express breakfast option. I highly...
