My family enjoys going to this theater the most out of all the theaters in Winnipeg. The seats stay comfortable even for longer showtimes which is a rarity for larger fellas like me. I was surprised to see a live music performance in the general lobby/seating area. Our most recent theater outting was for a birthday party and we were seated in the performance area as there were multiple birthdays happening at the same time. The music was appropriately geared towards the general audience and the performers noticed my son's birthday group and sang happy birthday which was nice if them. Popcorn and drink refills were simple and painless. The only thing the stops this location from being 5 stars from my perspective is the staff. They are friendly so that has not been an issue but it us somewhat painful and time consuming getting answers to questions regarding purchasing items, applying discounts, buying party packages etc. For instance, trying to purchase a collectible drink topper took nearly 10 minutes to sort out and resulted in the staff calling a manager to sort out if the purchase could be made. Not the end of the world by any means I understand the staff member could be new bit it took the manager a few minutes to sort out as well. Again not a major issue but it just seems like there is room for some service training regarding general knowledge of services and products offered. Still a great place to attend and staff makes up for servicw delays by being friendly and making an honest effort so really what more is there to ask for at the end of the day. Currently and for the foreseeable future, the theater of choice...
Read moreI went to there for Avatar 2 in theatre #1. I sat in the very back row. I wanted to go to the washroom. There was an exit door on the left side of my seat, only 3 seats away. The sign looked exactly the same as a regular sign and no warning there is no way back to the theatre. It was already late because I could not open the door from the other side and the door locked itself. I had no choice but to follow the exit sign and there was another door that also did not have any warning there is no way back and that the door will be automatically locked. The exit sign indicated the way and I followed with the hope that it will be connected to the lobby. It was a dead-end. The second door locked itself and I had no turning back at -22 degrees with only a sweater on. I had to go through the exit door which led to the outside of the building. Luckily, there was a staff cleaning the lobby and I knocked on the window hard to let me in. It was frustrating. If there were no staff, I would freeze to death as it was a late night. I am deeply disappointed and concerned that there is no proper indication. After me, there was another man who went out to the same exit door. He had to knock on the door to get back into the theatre after 10 seconds. That door should have been labeled Emergency Exit Only. It just has an exit sign which is not helpful as the exits near the screen also have...
Read moreI went to this theatre about a month after it opened and it's physical layout was about as creative as it's name.
Small things: Common areas and bathrooms were dirty. Selfserve pop machine had no ice and the pop was flat.
Big thing: Finding out that we were sitting in the wrong auditorium when the movie that we came to see had already been playing for 20 mins in the auditorium next door.
The signage labeling the auditoriums is the worst design I have ever seen. It makes no sense whatsoever. If you are going to see a movie in auditorium 5 you will probably walk into auditorium 6 with full confidence that you are in the right place. Oh, and it wasn't just us, as 90% of the people in the theatre got up and left to go to the theatre next door once they realised they were in the wrong place. I couldn't believe how many people were in the wrong auditorium. Rather than go see a movie after missing the first 20 minutes, we decided to stay and see what was playing where we were. After everyone else left to see the movie they came to see, it was just us and another couple left in the theatre. So you could imagine how great that movie turned out to be.
If you get anything out of this review, make sure you go to the right auditorium. Trust me. It is not obvious. It actually goes against better judgment.
Look at the picture. Which door is...
