Mercado municipal in Santa Maria is worth to visit, quiet and clean place, even though there aren't so many vendors compare to the other real market elsewhere and the price of the veggies/fruits/souvenirs are similar/more expensive than other local/chinese shops around St.Maria. There is a hotel school in one corner, that you can sample the food during lunch but I went there too late in the afternoon and didn't try. However, I recommend to order a tailor made dress(30€)/shirt(€15) with African textile by Senegalese tailors, located in the other corner from hotel school, the only shop in the building, which sell clothes and soft bags. He made me a dress as I expected, fit, nice cutting and super fast (less than 3h). And, if you stay longer in Santa Maria and want to save up more with the drinking water, they have a refill water vending machine in the other side of the Senegalese tailor, which cheaper than in store, 5L for 100escudos, just bring your empty 5L/1,5L bottles...

He thaught us how to play uril, a local game which we gladly got to take home. Mil obrigada Eliseo,...

I know fruit options are limited in Santa Maria; my suggestion would be to go to Cazu, their fruit is at least in date and reasonably priced. DO NOT COME HERE IT IS A...
