The place to be if you want to surf on Sal! Group lessons, private lessons, renthal (hard top and soft top different sizes) surf trips and even snorkling. We were looking for a place to surf and asked a lot of surf/kite schools but we got only wrong answers, till we went to this surf school. Kukuka (the owner) was super friendly and explained perfectly when the conditions were the best to go surfing. I booked a lesson and catched some nice waves with Marcello (the instructor), this man deserves a raise! Wat a amazing guy is he! Super fun and friendly, he gave me good tips and advice to catch more and better waves, he really knows the ocean. Later that week I did some surfboard renthal and the school organized a trip in the morning to go on a other spot with heavy waves! We even booked a snorkling trip by this school, we saw many fish and even a turtle! Good prices, nice people and good waves.

Unfortunately I have to support the bad reviews. I was really looking forward to surf at Sal with Kukukas surfschool after all the good reviews. So I booked a course in advance. From the beginning on I always had to ask for schedule and any information. The equipment was old and I did not get the right board. No spot check or explanation. I am intermediate but they just pushed me in the wave at their homebreak. Lesson is only one hour for the prize you get in general 2hrs. One early morning session nobody showed up at all. Afterwords at lot of poor excuses. When I cancelled the rest of the course, they did not want to give the money back and lied to me. Please do not go there. I had an amazing experience taking surfing lessons at this school in Santa Maria, Sal, and I can honestly say they are the best! The trainers are fantastic – they are full of positive energy, they motivate and cheer you on every step of the way, and you can really feel that they want you to progress and learn as much as possible. The lessons are not only super fun but also offered at very attractive prices. The equipment is excellent, everything is well-prepared, and the whole atmosphere makes you feel comfortable and excited to learn.
