I'll start by saying that mostly everyone who booked with other companies LOVED this experience, and my time in the air was great. Beautiful views of Medellin and the surrounding mountains.

But I give this COMPANY a one-star review because I showed up at 8:30AM (the posted time that they're open), and was jerked around for 4 hours before I got into the air. Initially, I was told that the pilot would be there in 30 minutes. Thirty minutes later I was told he'd be another hour.

He showed up and took my friend first. We were told she would paraglide down, get picked up and then it would be my turn. This was supposed to take 30 minutes. It took almost 2 hours, and every 10 minutes I was told that it would be another 10 minutes. I was lied to over and over again.

Then when I finally got to take off, I wasn't given any instruction. They just said run and we flew into the air. It was beautiful, and I hoped that we would fly left and right along the mountainside like EVERY other company did. Instead, he went straight to the landing spot and my entire ride lasted about 6 minutes (I have GoPro footage to back this).

We landed and the pilot hopped on his phone, and I had no idea what the heck was going on. I followed another group to a road as my pilot ignored me, and grabbed a taxi to go grab my stuff.

I was cheated out of my 180,000 cop, and while everyone was "kind", they lied to me over and over again, and provided me no information on what the heck was going on. I would recommend any other company, as everyone else had a wonderful time. It's 100% worth it, just not with...

This was one of the coolest experiences of my life! I was unsure if I was going to go through with it being that I'm not an adrenaline junkie or anything and it seemed like it could've been dangerous but after reading the reviews and finding out that they've done over 10,000 flights without a single incident I decided to go through with it and I couldn't of been more pleased. It was epic to say the least. Not only did these guys do an amazing job, they went above and beyond! I dropped my car key and phone out of my pocket. (he actually caught my phone which was a miracle in itself) So if you do it, make sure you take that stuff out of your pockets before you fly. But the flight was incredible and the landing couldn't of been any smoother. Then his partner drove me an hour into town and back to the car rental place to pick up a spare key. He didn't even charge me to do that! I made him take the last few dollars in my pocket and gave him my favorite hat lol but all he said was he didn't want my money he was just glad that I had a great time! This place and these people were the real MVP's of Medellin's Paragliding scene! Not to mention the price was I think around $40-$45 US when the other places charged $90 US I believe. Thank you and I'll see you again!!!

As far as Alamo at Volkswagon goes...I can't stress enough how much of a rip off they were and why you should never rent from them. They charged me $540 for the key...

I have wanted to get my P2 license for 2yrs. I chose Medellin because I heard of Ruben from a longtime paraglider in Seattle. Ruben is the godfather of paragliding in Colombia starting when paragliding barely existed in Colombia and had just began as a new sport.

He takes safety extremely seriously. I would trust him and his partner "H" with my life! This is something to take into consideration when looking for an instructor/tandem as other instructors in the area may be younger, less experienced and less likely to have your best interest at heart. You get what you pay for here and honestly it is worth so much more.

Ruben and "H" are like Dos XX men with plenty of amazing stories and life experiences. They are wonderful passionate human beings and extremely trustworthy and honorable. They would do anything to ensure the safety and enjoyment of their clients.

I would joke that Ruben was like the Mr. Miyagi of paragliding, it's so accurate!

Another reason why Medellin is a wonderful place to learn is the beautiful rolling green mountains in the surrounding area. Ruben and "H" will take you to spectacular landscapes to learn or you would do a tandem over gorgeous Medellin.

You should 1000% fly with Ruben! You will not be disappointed.

there is literally nowhere else I would train for my P3 other than with...

So much better than expected! I hadn't paraglided before and honestly wasn't too interested in it, thinking it was for wannabe daredevils too scared to skydive. Good thing I overcame my prejudices and went anyways. Paragliding is surreal. Even when tandem paragliding, you don't feel or see the pilot behind you nor the sail above. And you don't hear anything but the wind. I also didn't know this, but you go down AND up. You're really flying. I was blown away by the sensation. It was like a dream. The scenery—city, waterfalls, countryside—is amazing as well. And, perhaps most importantly, Rubenfly's whole operation is very professional and well-run. The pilots are true pros, they make you watch a safety video beforehand, the flight comes with insurance (just in case), and all the gear was super well-maintained. I felt 100% safe and I 100% recommend you do this in Medellin. It's 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of doing it in Canada, the US, or Europe and I can't imagine the experience can be beat anywhere else. Even better, if you're active, adventurous, and maybe a bit crazy, you can live the hikers' dream and hike up the mountain to the paragliding take-off—past a beautiful waterfall—then jump back down.
