Kościół - Twierdza św. Maryja Miłosierdzia Najbardziej imponującą perełką architektoniczną tego miejsca, unikalną w regionie Adriatyku, jest kościół św. Maryjo Miłosierdzia. Twierdza-kościół została rozbudowana i ufortyfikowana w 1575 roku po tureckim ataku dowodzonym przez tureckiego księcia Uluc-Ali w 1571 roku, który splądrował i spalił Vrboska oraz większość wysp. Twierdza Kaštilac pochodzi z tego samego okresu i służyła jako posterunek straży. Kościół-fortecę założono kosztem miejscowej społeczności ze względu na ochronę przed Turkami.
