My visit at ‘Tawlet Yvonne’ was caused by my desire to explore a new Lebanese restaurant in Cairo. We Turks see Lebanese cuisine as a mixed Mediterranean cuisine, with Aegean Mediterranean touches. So we prefer it as the most prone and closest cuisine to our taste.
Just arrived a very kind and friendly staff welcome me. I took my table in the outdoor area and ordered ‘Tabbouleh’ and ‘Eggplant Fatteh’ . The order was served quickly and very stylishly with freshly baked Lebanese bread.
Tabbouleh, one of my favourite in the Lebanese kitchen, was simply magnificent. The freshness of the paisley and taste of all ingredients , the blended flavor and proportion of the lemon-oil mix was simply top!
‘Eggplant Fatteh’, on the other hand, had a unique way at ‘Tawlet Yvonne’. In fact, at first look, I found the Eggplant cubes large, but after the first bite, it figured out why they were ‘over dimensional’ 😃. In this way, the cooks maximized the taste of the eggplant extremely. The cutted & fried bread was extraordinarily crisply and was adding to the flavor of Fatteh. The yogurt used in it was so creamy and neutral but had such an intense taste that you have to taste it! Really I know what I write. Magnificent!
For now I am not able to write a lot about the ambiance because I sat at a table in the outdoor area immediately next to the entrance. I can only say that the exterior frames the interior in an L-shape.
I definitely recommend ‘Tawlet Yvonne’ to anyone who wants dine Lebanese, but really everyone. You will never, ever regret it. You can be sure that ‘Tawlet Yvonne’ will appeal to all five senses of you.
With respect and love for labor, care, and taste Tawlet Yvonne - thank...
Read moreFollowing up on the poor kitten incident, we wanted to share an update. We met with the owner of the restaurant, who took full responsibility for what happened. After reviewing the security footage, he acknowledged the incident and expressed his regret. He informed us that the employee involved has been suspended, and the rest of the staff on that shift have been penalized. Additionally, the restaurant has committed to establishing a monthly fund to support the stray pets in the area. The owner also apologized, and we felt it was important to keep you informed of these developments. ———————
AVOID Tawlet Yvonne- Incident of Animal Cruelty!
I cannot recommend this place due to a shocking incident I witnessed. While nearby having coffee, I saw one of the staff (wearing a black sweatshirt with the restaurant's logo) holding a plastic bag with a screaming kitten inside. When I asked what was happening, he coldly said the kitten was injured and might die, claiming it was "better to die outside than inside the restaurant." He then threw the poor kitten onto the street.
Heartbroken, my friend and I rushed to help. We contacted a vet clinic, where the kitten was diagnosed with internal bleeding caused by a hit. The kitten was also soaking wet, which was dangerous given its fragile state. Tragically, it passed away the next day.
When my friend tried to speak with the owner to ensure such cruelty would never happen again, she was ignored, and the staff dismissed her concerns, even gaslighting her.
This was a deeply upsetting experience, and I cannot support a place that treats animals so...
Read moreSeriously one of the best f&b experiences I’ve had in Egypt in a long time. Went there on a dinner date with hubby and it kinda felt like we were transported to Beirut for a couple of hours. The service was impeccable, I’m impressed. Food was as good as you’d have in Lebanon. The kofta and kabab could be a little juicier, it was a little dry, but still tasty and tender. Everything else was really yummy - including the Taboulé which is my favourite thing in the world. All the mezze was perfect. Ambiance was lovely and cheerful and a little dreamy with all the fairy lights. Not many places around where you can go for a good meal and some wine and shisha! Our server and the manager offered us some Halawet Jibn which was spot on and a very kind surprise. Our server was Ibrahim and he was wonderfully attentive. Will go back in...
