Ooh Provence is the best tour company for the South of France! . If you want to experience the South of France in the best way, hire Ooh Provence for a tour. I feel very fortunate to have engaged Christopher Curtis for my tour of St Remy and Arles the Romans and Vincent Van Gogh. Ooh Provence and Christopher made everything so easy from the time of my booking, the tour itself and his assistance in helping me arrange private transfer to other villages in the South of France.
Christopher greeted me with a smile as he picked me from my hotel in Les Baux de Provence in his very comfortable car. We were off for a day of adventure filled with history, culture and art. Christopher is extremely knowledgeable and his love of the area shines throughout the day. We toured Roman ruins, places where Van Gogh lived, Roman forums, an abbey, cloisters, churches, villages and the countryside. Christopher had interesting facts and insight about all that we saw so that the tour was very interesting and created for my interests. By the end of the day, I felt like I was seeing the sites with an old friend. The day was so special and my favorite tour of my five weeks in Europe.
Christopher also went the extra mile with me. I am recovering from a leg injury so I have mobility issues. Christopher was patient with my slow walking and adjusted the tour so that the pathways we walked were easier on my leg. He made sure there were enough breaks so I could be comfortable throughout the tour. Not every tour I went on during my trip was as considerate as Christopher.
Since I was traveling by myself, I also appreciated the extra assistance Christopher offered to give me while I was in the South of France. If I had questions about the area, Christopher was always available to answer my questions. When I couldn't figure out my transportation needs, Christopher offered to help arrange private transportation for me. I am hoping to return next summer and Ooh Provence will be the first company I call to help arrange my tours in the area especially his tours of vineyards.
Do not hesitate to hire Ooh Provence for your tour needs in the South of France. At the end of the day I was so happy to have found out about Ooh Provence, but when Christopher presented me with a sweet gift, I...
Read moreWe had an amazing time with Chris. But before I get to our actual trip in France, what made me add more tours was all the help Chris provided before we even landed in France. Being in the States and not sure what Covid looked like in France and the Internet not providing a clear picture I reached out to ask what we would be walking into. I thought Chris would just send us a link with information instead he detailed everything even went to the pharmacy he recommended for us to get our French Health pass just to make sure which was extremely helpful and we had to present it a lot. Internet didn’t even really explain how to get that. So because of all that help we booked two more tours. Our first tour was to Gorge du Verdon. Like the Grand Canyon and Pacific Coast Highway in one. Having Chris drive was definitely a pleasure for my husband to not have to drive those windy roads. We stopped in Moustiers Ste Marie, which we would’ve never found on our own. The little town was delightful with an amazing chapel up many very old stairs but worth the walk. We even got to see mountain goats and had a great lunch. We added on tours in Arles and Marseille. It was great having Chris lead us around and tell us information instead of wandering aimlessly and reading on our phones. I can go into a much more detail but to sum up you will not be disappointed if you book a tour with Ohh Provence. Chris was so nice and easy to talk to you. Thank God since we spent 3 of our 10 days with him. We even met his partner Laurent (who I can only imagine gives great tours too) and their sweet...
Read more[via Project Expedition] This private tour was well worth the price. Our tour guide, Laurent, sent us a text message the night before to introduce himself and let us know where to meet him at the cruise port. He was there holding a sign with my name right on time. We arrived in Provence early so Laurent took us to the top of the mountain where we were treated to magnificent views of the French countryside.
He took us to three local wineries of varying sizes, but all of them were small, family owned vineyards where we received personal service and a personal tasting guide. Two of them gave us an extensive "behind the scenes" tour of their own wine making process and we walked the vineyards, entered the cellars and saw the holding tanks and barrels so we could see how the wine is processed from vine to bottle. One of them had a small restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious lunch, accompanied by their own wine, of course (the lunch is not included as stated in the tour description but it was not expensive). Our guide ate lunch with us and we enjoyed getting to know each other and became friends.
We tried so many different wines that we lost count, but it was probably close to two dozen by the end of the day. The car was very clean and he had cold waters for us as needed. Laurent even gave us a small gift upon departure. We felt fortunate to have such a local, knowledgeable guide - it felt more like a family friend showing us around his town.
I would highly recommend this tour and that you request Laurent...
