Librairie du Canal — Local services in Paris

Just rude. I went to get en English book since I read on here that the English book section is quite good. There’s no English book section, they probably have 15 English books. Now the issue is that when I went to get the book I asked if they had it “en anglais”. Now, I have been studying French since I’m 10, been living here for the last 10 years of my life, work in French, live in French, and the answer I got was “en anglais … ou en anglais?” with a smirk and a suffocated laugh from the librarian. So I said it again, and again. He then went on to explain to me the difference between the different “e” sound in French, like I was a child. Just, extremely, rude. Won’t ever go...

Je viens de quitter cette librairie où je me suis rendue avec mon enfant de 4 ans. Lorsque mon fils a simplement soulevé un livre, une dame, qui est peut-être la responsable, a commencé à me parler sur un ton très désagréable, me disant qu'il ne fallait pas qu'il touche à ce livre. J'ai posé le livre en lui disant qu'il ne fallait pas qu'elle s'inquiète puisque mon enfant avait juste pris le livre dans ses mains et que c'était le support en métal qui est tombé. A ce moment elle réplique que si, qu'il faut qu'elle s'inquiète puisque c'est un livre très très cher (et non, ce n'est pas du tout un livre très très cher...). Bref, je ne m'y rendrai plus jamais même si j'ai bien tenté de soutenir cette librairie depuis le début de la pandémie. Elle aurait pu me parler correctement mais elle a choisit de partir directement sur un comportement complètement déplacé, à me parler sur un ton agressif, et surtout à parler à mon enfant comme elle l'a fait....
