Le Poivrier — Local services in Pointe-à-Pitre

I have wanted to eat at this restaurant for some times, but every time I passed by without reservation, the restaurant was full. I finally made reservation one week in advance, and I was not disappointed. We had a nice lunch at a table, not next to the sea but nearby. I enjoyed their appetizers. My husband liked their main course and the wine list was well chosen. The service was quick and the presentation of each plate was nice.

If only 1 suggestion I can add to make the restaurant gain more star is that the staff needs to be a bit less rigid looking. They did well as serving, but the atmosphere was very cold and even when I tried to have a conversation, it was answered in a way of forceful and not like a warm welcome. Perhaps it was just a bad day for 2 servers.

Favorite restaurant on the island from our week's stay. Most attentive service as well. Certain dishes are paired with specific pepper, which was a fantastic touch. My wife's fish carpaccio was paired with peppercorns that smelled and tasted like grapefruit - very unique dining experience. All in all our group had 3 bottles of wine - a red, a rose and a white - and all were fantastic. My filet mignon was cooked to absolute perfection, as was my brother's duck and my wife's lobster, which she said was the best...

Food was clearly 4-5 star but the server was so awful I cannot recommend this place. Literally throws the menu in front of you while looking the other way. Rolls his eyes at you. Cannot recall a more horrible waiter. And not that it should matter but I do speak French fluently.
