Epicerie de Marie is a five star restaurant without the five star pomp and circumstance! Stephane provides fresh quality meats (veal , lamb, beef), seafood (sole, cod, Madagascar shrimp, scallops), cheeses, fruits, vegetables and some of the most incredible French wines available at a fraction of the cost. He has forgotten more about wine than I know. Whether it is an intimate table for two for lunch or a larger group for dinner, Stephane always makes you feel like you are the only and most important customer. From provisioning yachts (which have incredibly high standards) to cooking many amazing meals and pairing them with the perfect wine, the entire experience is understated, relaxed and unpretentious. This place was absolutely incredible! Stephane was so friendly and the food was just phenomenal. If you are lucky enough to be looking at this place on google reviews, then congratulations you have found the island’s best kept secret. This is a yacht provisioning store, and to be honest it doesn’t look like much from the outside - you may driven past it a million times and never noticed it with the stadium just across the street. And yet, it is a true gem. If the stars align and Stephane the owner has time, he will whip you up a truly excellent meal. I have eaten all over the island during my trip - L’Auberge Gourmande, Bistro Caraibes, Villa Hibiscus, Bacchus, the entire Place du Village in Orient, Marios Bistro, Sale e Pepe... but my two favorite meals were both here. The ingredients are incredibly fresh and of a quality that makes the American in me weep.
