An Utter Disgrace of a Lounge: Avoid at All Costs
I’ve had the opportunity—or rather, the misfortune—of visiting many VIP lounges around the world, and I can confidently say this one earns the dubious distinction of being among the very worst, if not the worst. It's hard to fathom how a space intended for rest, comfort, and basic quality standards can fail so spectacularly on every single front.
Let’s start with the physical space: the lounge is laughably small, poorly laid out, and clearly unfit to accommodate the number of passengers granted access. Finding a seat is an exercise in frustration or sheer luck. At no point did I feel this was a place to unwind before a flight.
The food offering is, frankly, insulting. Tasteless, reheated dishes made with the cheapest ingredients imaginable, sloppily presented and depressingly limited in variety. If you arrive outside of peak hours, expect empty trays and sad, cold leftovers. There's nothing here that even remotely resembles what one would expect from a lounge experience.
Staff—though seemingly well-intentioned—are too few and visibly overwhelmed. The result is a chaotic environment where disorder reigns and guests are left to fend for themselves. There's no personalized service, no attention to detail, and the overall cleanliness is woefully neglected.
And the drinks? Only if you have a craving for subpar disappointment. The spirits are bottom-shelf, the wine tastes like it's been salvaged from a discount store’s clearance rack, and the beer selection is barely worth mentioning. The perfect toast to your travels... if you're aiming to start with a letdown.
In summary: this VIP lounge does not deserve the title. It's a poorly managed, thrown-together space that completely misses the mark on everything it’s supposed to provide. If your access comes via your ticket or credit card, do yourself a favor and wait elsewhere. Any airport café will, without exaggeration, offer a more...
Read moreThe worst lounge in Europe by a long distance! The food selection is atrocious, one type of ham and one type of cheese of the worst quality.
For breakfast there is no offering besides sad little bread offered 24/7 and olives there at any hour. Since months they even removed mottled drinks with signs everywhere not to bring with you the food so they offer a very poor selection of big-bottle to fill your glasses.
Every time I go there I just look at the buffet and come back to my table empty handed, because just because the lounge has a cost doesn't mean I need to do myself the displeasure of eating mediocre food.
The first lounge that I look forward to leave instead of reaching. Also the wifi speed is super slow, having 800KB/sec right now making me regret that while downloading a file I go back to the buffet just to give a look hoping for something new coming (which it doesn't) only to increase my frustration.
Always click the big red button and make sure that the stuff knows this si really bad because there is no reason why this airport has the worst offering...
Read moreI recently spent some time in the Hugo Junkers Lounge at Düsseldorf Airport. The lounge space itself is bright and well laid-out across two floors, offering plenty of seating and nice apron views. It’s a decent spot to unwind or catch up on emails before a flight.
One thing to note is that all food and beverages are self-serve—there is no barista or full drink service, just a standard coffee machine alongside soft drinks and juices . The limited buffet is kept tidy, but the selection is fairly basic, especially early in the morning.
There isn’t a dedicated service team; you’ll mainly see staff circulating to clean tables and top up the buffet. These team members are always friendly and work hard to keep the lounge neat, but don’t expect personal service beyond that . Power outlets are somewhat scarce, so if you need to charge devices, plan to arrive early to find a spot.
Overall, Hugo Junkers Lounge delivers on space and cleanliness with cordial staff tidying up, but the lack of any real drink service and the modest food offerings make it a middle-of-the-road...
