The hotel staff deserves more than 5 stars. They are the true Star of the Hotel. At check-in, Lounge, Dinner, Breakfast. All around a well selected staff to run the hotel, a great job by management in selecting and training their personnel. ||The facilities are at par with a 3 or 4 Star hotel. Not fancy, glamour or glittering. HOWEVER, you get a very clean room & bathroom plenty of amenities. |Rooms are very quiet and Wifi reception is good for work. I didn’t try streaming movies. ||There is an inner open courtyard perfect for relaxing and enjoying a drink or doing work. ||The food at the restaurant is amazing and if you don’t find anything in the menu that you like, just ask the server and the Chef will be happy to accommodate. Breakfast has a lot of selections and the presentation is very attractive appetizing. |The made -to -order Omelets are made by a chef and made as it should be- not overcooking or over-handling the eggs. I’ve read reviews about their omelets and tells me those folks like their eggs overcooked and tossed around. If that is what you like, let her know and she will accommodate. ||The 10-Stars of this review go to Gregorz the server at Otto Restaurant. What a delight to see this gentleman in action how professional, patient, accommodating and knowledgeable he is to all. I took the opportunity to chat with him and explore food options outside the menu given it was my 3rd visit in 7 days. Between him and the chef came up with an off the menu dish and it was amazing. |His recommendations were always on point. Once you meet him, you know he loves his job and he is a master at doing it. If I owned a restaurant he would be my Master-Trainer to take those young ones and train them well. A real delight to meet such quality service and attention. One you expect at $$$$ expensive restaurants often don’t get, it’s at the Otto Restaurant!!! I hope to...
Read moreIf you are looking for a hotel with “character” and “comfort”, this is not it. Come here without any expectations, and you will be ok. The rooms are tiny, and if you are a Bonvoy loyal, do NOT fall in the trap and book a club room. All rooms are the same, (small). For stays beyond 2-3 days, the room size is an issue, especially for frequent travelers. Getting an upgrade seems to be a pipe-dream, and it was not even remotely discussed at check-in.||Overall the hotel seems to be well managed. Bright spot is the breakfast, where the food selection and quality is actually pretty decent. The staff do make a difference, with folks like HABIB going above and beyond to make sure that guests are well taken care of.||Faced an issue with the shower-head. Kind of fell apart and needed replacement. As it was the weekend it seems that the hotel had limited maintenance support. Solution offered by the front desk was a room change (not an option for me), or to give me access to another room for showering, until the shower head is fixed (needed two days). This is not the kind of solution you want to communicate to your guests, and no matter what, it should not take 48hrs to replace a hose. Having expressed my thoughts, it seemed that the front desk found the solution, and it was replaced the next day.||Overall, the hotel is fine. It’s a decent transit/business hotel, conveniently located (literally across the street from the airport). Staff are pleasant, courteous and professional. Value for money? Not even worth a discussion. Stayed at the property during an occupancy spike due to a conference, and it was ridiculously expensive for what is generally on offer....
Read moreJust stayed at the Sheraton Düsseldorf Airport Hotel. The check-in team was warm, welcoming, and professional. That part truly stood out. And in terms of location, it’s ideal if you’re arriving late or catching an early flight. Extremely convenient.
However, the hotel itself feels outdated. The photos on the website seem to be from the opening day, and they set expectations that do not match the reality. I had booked a suite, expecting a modern and comfortable space. Instead, the room had wall-to-wall carpeting, dark corners, and poor lighting. Some areas were too bright, others too dim. The television looked like something from the early 2000s. These days, a basic Smart TV is a small investment, and its absence sends a clear message: comfort is not the priority.
That is a valid business decision. But guests should be aware. This is a functional airport hotel, not a space designed to impress or create a memorable experience. If you come in with practical expectations, it will serve its purpose. Just do not expect much beyond the basics.
The lounge is also underwhelming. It barely qualifies as one and feels more like a storage area for cleaning supplies. If the management sees it differently, I would encourage them to visit a few other Marriott properties to see what the typical guest might expect.
A renovation would make a real difference. It would not only improve the atmosphere, but also show guests that their comfort and experience still matter. Most visitors would welcome...
