Ah, CR Park Market No. 1! Just stepping into this market transports you straight to the heart of Kolkata. The sights, sounds, and most importantly, the aromas! For a Bengali in Delhi, this place is a true gem.
Shondesh er Misti Mouri (The Sweet Aroma of Sandesh): Right from the entrance, the sweet scent of shondesh (Bengali fudge) hits you. Stalls piled high with these melt-in-your-mouth delicacies in every flavor imaginable will have you reaching for your wallet.
Ilisher Kanthakथा (The Thrill of Hilsa): Forget the frozen stuff! Here, you'll find glistening, fresh Hilsa (Ilish) fish, perfect for that authentic Bengali macher jhol (fish curry). And it's not just Hilsa; there's a bounty of fresh seafood – Rui (Rohu), Katla (Bengal Carp), and even lobsters and crabs – that will have you planning your next Bengali feast.
Aamar Bangla (My Bengal): Beyond the food, CR Park Market No. 1 is a treasure trove of Bengali essentials. Lush green saris with intricate zari borders, comfy kurtas for the men, and even Bengali literary magazines – you can find it all here. It's a one-stop shop to keep your Bengali spirit alive in Delhi.
Adda on the Go: No Bengali experience is complete without an adda (chat session) with friends over a cup of chai. The small cafes around the market offer that perfect spot to catch up, sip on some steaming Darjeeling, and reminisce about home.
Criticisms, Mane Nai (No Complaints Here): Sure, the market can get crowded, especially on weekends. But for a little bit of Kolkata magic in Delhi, it's a small price to pay. CR Park Market No. 1 is a lifeline for Bengali souls in the capital, a place to reconnect with our roots and indulge in a...
Read moreVisited CR Park on 2nd February 2022 to do shopping for the Saraswati Puja. Bengalees perform this puja on the Basant Panchami every year. The main purpose was to purchase the Saraswati idol. I had to buy one, but the price was exorbitant, without any reason. Had I known another place in Delhi where you get such idols, I wouldn't have purchased it from CR Park. Many of you know, that it's a small market where you have the eateries on the front row and some grocery shops inside the market. Next to the small temple, there is a dedicated place for fish, which is the famous fish market of CR Park. Coming back to my experience - even other items which I bought from the Dashkarma bhandar for the puja was highly priced.
I was hungry and a bit greedy. So grabbed a egg chicken roll from one of the front row shops selling the same. It was below average and double the price of such rolls, available in Dwarka, where I live and needles to say much tasty. However, the shop was crowded and many had placed their orders. We also bought Chinese items like chuli chicken, soya chap, rice for dinner, which was equally tasteless. Got rajbhog from one of the sweet shops but disappointed too. None of the guests who consumed the rajbhog was happy. Please dont go by the sheer size of the rajbhog, like me.
Overall CR Park experience was average for me. Whether I recommend or not, everyone will go, becoz it is C R park. But if it is not absolutely required dont travel all the way to this place, for fish you may want to visit though. Stay...

In a big building there are shops for groceries, tea, sweet, fried items and so many other things. This market mainly caters to local Bengali population. Since all the items required for Bengali cuisines are available here, people from distance also visit this place frequently. Since Bengalis are very fond of fish and sweets, these two items are the signature items of this market. Fish market is a wet market and there is no fish which is not available in this market . There is also a vegetable market. There are many sweet shops in the market and all of them are famous in Delhi. There are several restaurants also. The market is full of hustle and bustle. We baught some special Bengali sweets and spices which are required for Bengali cuisine. But one should not think that only Bengali staffs are available here. All other items are also available. We enjoyed...
