Almost 2-months ago, I had to take my sister to the emergency department at Umkal Hospital late at night due to severe stomach pain. Dr. Shubham Shekhawat was the attending physician. While he did listen to her symptoms and prescribed medicines and injections, his overall attitude was surprisingly cold and detached.
Even during the night, when we were clearly distressed, he came across as overly âstraightforwardââbut not in a helpful or professional way. His tone felt dismissive and almost rude. I chose to ignore it at the time, hoping the treatment would be the priority. Two injections were given, and she felt better temporarily.
However, the next morning, her pain returned and worsened. We went back to the hospital around 4 PM for the third injection that had been prescribed earlier. Dr. Shekhawat was available again, but his behavior was even more disappointing. When I asked what could be done to help her feel better immediately, he casually said, âIâve already written the investigationsâCBC, KFT, LFT, Urine. You can either go for tests or admit her. I can repeat the same injection if you want.â There was no empathy, no concern, and no effort to check on her condition again.
It felt like he was just doing the bare minimum, with no emotional engagement or sense of responsibility. His approach seemed more like a business transaction than medical care. Iâve visited Umkal Hospital before and never encountered such an indifferent attitude from a doctor.

Read moreHi, I am writing this to inform about the quality of service received at your hospital by your staff. Patient-Sukant Bhatia was admitted 11/04/15 and was to be discharged on 12/04/15. They were informed to get the discharge paper ready at 8 am in the morning and it was not ready till 12 noon. I had to get myself at the basement to get the file delivered to the billing desk.
Even after that they were not able to give me the delivery letter. They suggested to collect the letter on monday instead as there was no one available to type the letter.
This is the worst private hospital experience in my life and i would never recommend anyone. MS--Kaul and his staff was invloved in this
