All time favourite for die hard Indorees n visitors. One stop place for your jwellery n traditional culinary delicacies for your taste buds visit to Sarafa is a must. It's a Heritage cum Gourmet walk for connoisseur of taste. Before setting out I recommend starving a day prior and visit during day.
A narrow street lined with jewellers. Many old names still exists but have partitioned and brothers have adjoining shops with same names.
For Silver items I can recommend Dewaswala. Gold it's better one sticks to own family Sunaar or even better ditch him n go for hallmark items.
Over a period of time number of Sweet shops have reduced. Old famous Sharma Sweets in Laddhaji s House n JMB on the corner of Morsali Gali have disappeared.
The market during night turns into food Street with fancy items that don't have local origin. Good to attract tourists n youngsters. I will still recommend a day visit to enjoy traditional food items.
Starting from police station / Bohra bazaar side before entering Sarafa turn towards MG Road and walk through Shakkar Bazar. Concentrate on left there are intricately carved heritage buildings that house Jain Temples and private residences worth a look. Get back and start your stroll in Sarafa, first is on the right hand Sarvafalahaari Mishtan Bhandar more commonly known as Nagori famous for their Shikanji it's better to share a glass than to regret.
Joshi's Dahibada and Bhutte ka kis a corn 🌽 prepration is must try again share and get some packed n carry home. If you are lucky to find owner his skills in throwing the bada in air and garnishing four different types of masala in one go are amazing.
At the end must try khopra pattis of Vijay Chaat House. He also specialises in Khaman n Dhokala. Kachori is not bad.
On the opposite side is Samosa corner the aroma is still same as four decades back. Will attempt to taste it in next visit.
Little towards Pipli Bazar on the left is kulfi wala n opposite to it is Ramji Mawa wala.
Heading back towards Rajbada opposite to Immambada ther are two three vendors on side with Gulabjamun n Mawabaati better avoid. Primarily for the dust it attracts.
Some where midway in Sarafa need to locate shop of Newspaper vendors Dulichand ji. Though they have a shop each at Rajbada, Citicentre n Sarvate bus stand. Think the family must be holding on to their first shop
Heading towards Rajbada a visit to renovated Gopal Mandir and Mahalaxmi Mandir is must.
Visit and walk through on Rajbada, Sarafa and Khajuri Bazaar during festivals like Holi, Rang Panchami, Anant Chaturthi and Dusshera is Life time experience and must do for those who have not seen.
Another attractions in the area are Yashoda Mandir Jabreshwar Mahadev Temple Ram Mandir Shree Shanta Durga Mandir Ganesh Mandir Jain temples Last four are around Subhash Chowk water tank
PS
Better still Start from Siddhivinayak Or Chhota Ganpati Temple opposite Malhargang Police Station Holkar ere temple. Enter Cloth market from side Gate to savor Paani Puri of Ghanshyam, Aloo kachori with grated onion. Get out through South Gate behind Kaanch Mandir MUST try Famous Badri ki Kachori.
