From the very first moment I arrived at the Agnihotra Yoga Retreat in Vakarla, I was blown over of the amazing energy of power and stillness at the same time. My own âworldâ and thoughts from the minute before went automatically on mute or standby. I know that it sound weird, but it was what I felt and it was a very powerful mental experience. I had a feeling of happiness, sadness and inner peace at the same time. As the days vent by it all transformed to allowing, blessing, peaceful being, letting go and being in the present moment. I had many beautiful lucidity, cannel wisdom and insights given doing the various asanas of fire ritual meditations, yoga and the pranic energy healing. The yoga master Syam Rakesh Kumar is a wonderful person who is blessed and highly dedicated to teaching in all spiritual aspect of no limit in knowledge of the highest good for all living beings, earth and cosmic balance. In this ambience, the day kicks off with fire meditation to welcome the sunrise and then yoga - when we do sun salutation, we literally salute to the sun - surrounded by lush green trees all around. We can then grab a breath in our pretty clean huts (with all the facilities) and get ready for breakfast. Breakfast has all the colourful fruits with coconut garnishing. Shyamji takes care of their guests like a parent :). Shyamjiâs management of the retreat, guestâs experience, his deep knowledge of the fire meditation, yog, pranic energy healing and naturalopathy is immaculate and nothing that I have come across before in someone. Sujata didi makes delicious sadhya meal for lunch every single day - these are as tasty, healthy and authentic as any meal can ever be. Dinner used to be a healthy lentil and rice soup. There is no question which will remain unanswered and no cell in the body which will be left from being energised and revitalised. I was a solo traveller and i felt completely safe all the time. The retreat oozes of positive energy and a calm and safe environment. I was not completely well when I visited the retreat and my throat was on mute due to dry cough but sujata didiâs healthy food and Shyamjiâs expertise in pranic energy healing session healed me and I was back to speaking and conversing. In addition to the rich experience in the retreat, Shyamji will ensure for the guests to have a beautiful experience in sight seeing and other offerings that Kerala has like the Ayurvedic Massages. It was a wholesome experience for mind, body and soul and would encourage everybody to open themselves to it and choose to stay in Agnihotra Yoga Retreat. Spending a few days there will bring us closer to the natural and healthy way of...
Read moreOur family spent a fantastic Yoga & Meditation week at Agnihotra Yoga Retreat in Varkala.
Eight days out of time in a place filled with energy and compassion, learning authentic & holistic Yoga, that is to connect the body and mind through Asanas (physical exercises) and Mindfulness Meditations, 6 hours a day.
We were fortunate to be tought by a wonderful person, our Yoga Master, Syam Ji (Rakesh Kumar is his civil name), fully dedicated to the teaching of is art and lifestyle, a Yoga practice that is rooted in ancient Vedaâs wisdom with Hata Yoga Asanas coupled with Homa Meditations, a practice that is using fire to purify the atmosphere⊠and the soul!
The Yoga Asanas teaching was very progressive, from the classic poses to more advanced one, working on strength, flexibility, and of course equilibrium. The Yoga Meditation part was also very well guided with breathing techniques, body scanning, and the fire and mantra chantings as wonderful ways to fix attention and totally be present to the moment.
Food was also adapted to the retreat with a specific Ayurvedic regime to cleanse the body.
Syam Ji is truly incarnating the values he his teaching, and his chanting of the compassion mantras were pure positive vibrations. He also was very generous with his time to engage in passionate conversations about Indian culture, the Vedas, the commonalities across religions and laic spirituality nowadays.
For those who seek to go beyond the western view of Yoga (that is a âGymâ practice), I highly recommend Agnihotra Yoga Retreat: it can be a life transforming experience! Kids are also...
