THE CENTRAL KITCHEN — Local services in Mumbai

This is a review I posted on another food review site a couple of years ago... Just pasting it here for a larger audience :)

First let me start by saying to The Central Kitchen and Avni that I'm sorry for being 3 months late with this review :-)

When God is busy he sends down his angels and in the true sense that's what TCK was for me. It was my last few days in office and I had the insane task of ordering food for about 50 people and all I was sure of was the number of people and the fact that I wanted to order Chinese for a change and not the good old, standard, easy option of biryani. I searched and chanced upon these guys on Facebook and immediately called them.

Within 5 mins of my calling them my mind was at ease coz when u speak to someone who knows what they're doing u just become comfortable & that's exactly what Team TCK & AVNI (special shout out to her!) did. They guided me with the proper options to select and I took large portions of schezwan rice and large portions of veg n chicken schezwan gravy as well just to be safe as universally most people like the combination.

They took on the task of delivery all the way from Sion to Powai with approx. just 48 hours of prior notice (the day I needed the order for happened to be Women's Day so I'm sure they would have had a lot of orders to fulfill) and boy did they deliver. Not only was it on time but it was so delicious that everyone hogged on it and finished all of it. No wastage :-D Not to mention the fact that everyone loved the idea of Chinese instead of the mundane biryani that we have each time ;-). My ratings are as below;

TASTE - 10/10 - Finger licking delicious stuff

QUALITY - 10/10 - There were no uncooked / half cooked chicken pieces or gravy or rice. Considering the quantity I ordered thats commendable coz it shows their commitment to their food quality

QUANTITY - 10/10 - Ample enough. Excellent guidance given by the team

PACKAGING - 10/10 - They delivered it in about 6-7 large KFC style delivery buckets. Great idea, easy to handle

DELIVERY - 10/10 - Perfect, on time and the food was still hot

SERVICE - 10/10 - With a smile and an attitude that'll make you wanna go back and reorder

The Central kitchen Located in Sion so certainly their target will be bkc as that’s the major chunk of business they can expect and target. Now a day’s food delivery options are everywhere in India and each place serves you really wow food respectively. I ordered my lunch in bkc from the central kitchen and it came bang on time to be honest. Packaging was really perfect in round plastic containers and paratha wrapped in silver foil. I had paneer kalimiri tikka which had paneer chunks marinated in Indian spices, mainly white with black pepper flavour and cardamom flavour. Paneer was soft and fresh; I felt cardamom flavour was more dominating than black pepper flavour. Veg saag wala, was really nice it was basically spinach gravy with mix vegetables in it. Spinach gravy was balanced well with flavours and perfect to go with laccha paratha. Daal makhani was going very well with the food what we ordered, would have been even nicer with jeera rice. Daal was little thick and was missing the butter/makhhan/creamy flavour which it must have. We had food delivered at work from The Central Kitchen.

While the food packed well, with no spills, we were a little disappointed. We expect delivery restaurants to include spoons, forks, paper napkins etc. And especially when serving Indian cuisine, we expect things such as lemon and pickles to be standard. Not so with The Central Kitchen!

Coming to the food, the taste and quantity of the food didn't disappoint.

Veg Saagwala Nice mixed vegetable. We loved the spices here and overall liked this.

Dal Makhani Black Lentil. Decent though not in the catogery of best that we have had. Maybe some lemon would have helped.

Paneer Kalimirch Tikka This was by far the best of the lot. Lovely fresh chunks of cottage cheese with black pepper flavouring. Delicious.

Tandori Rotis This was a little disappointing. Kinda chewy.

Overall, the food didn't disappoint, though things could have been much better with a little bit more attention to condiments and better...
